Quick Quotes

Q. 11-under, great start to the week. Thomas, take us through the round. What was working?

THOMAS ROSENMUELLER: Yeah, obviously on the back nine my putter got really hot. You don't shoot - I think I shot solo 29 on the back with seven birdies - unless the putter is working.

But I think we put ourselves in a lot of good spot, even on the front. We just were not able to convert some of these chances, especially on the par-5s and on the back nine turned around saw a couple putts go in and we just took it and ran with it.

Q. Obviously this week with the team format, Paul, talk about how enjoyable it is switching it up, not there on your own, now you have a teammate?

PAUL PETERSON: Yeah, it's great to be able to root for somebody else. I think the whole group, playing with Trevor and Kevin and all of us coming off the Korn Ferry last year, it's like we all know each other pretty well and are rooting for each other. So it's cool to have that vibe and that energy of trying to encourage everybody to just do as well as they can and make as many putts as they can.

Thankfully my partner was able to roll in a ton of them on the back nine, so it was fun to watch. It was just like -- I was like, every hole go in, and it did, so it was really cool.

Q. How did you guys come together as a team? Did you use the Korn Ferry TOUR as the foundation to come together for this?

THOMAS ROSENMUELLER: Yeah, I think for me I was unsure whether Matty Schmid was going to play or not for a while, and he decided to take a well-earned vacation this week, which I hope he enjoys the beach right now. It was just kind of looking who was still available a couple weeks before the tournament. I saw Paul was available.

In this format especially, I've played a lot of foursomes in Germany, it's about consistency and somebody that once in a while you don't have to worry about four- or five-footers. Building a team I think is very important, and I know I can put Paul in maybe not-so-good spots and he's going to chip me close or he's going to make the putts.

Obviously today he hit a lot of fairways, so that freed me up to just go swing away, and was able to go low.

Q. You talked a little bit about the team aspect. Have you started talking about strategy for tomorrow?

PAUL PETERSON: Thankfully we play not too different of a golf ball, so we'll play a golf ball tomorrow that's right between the two of ours. He's played the 25x some of the events this year, and we were hitting that ball on the range and I like how it flies.

I think with kind of my accuracy and short game and his ability to hit it far and putt it as well as he's putting right now, I think we'll definitely be there for each other in the alternate shot.
