J. OSTAPENKO/A. Sabalenka
6-4, 6-1
THE MODERATOR: Aryna, obviously not the result you wanted today. Was it just a case of your game but also Jelena playing just unbelievably well? Talk us through your thoughts on the match.
ARYNA SABALENKA: Well, honestly I think it was few points at the end of the first set, which I didn't really perform my best, and it happens. Some days there are days when you're not performing your best at all and you're just trying to stay there.
After the first set, she just, like, outplayed me. Yeah, it was just great game from her in the second set.
Yeah, I'm not happy with the result, but yeah, I'll try better next year probably (smiling).
THE MODERATOR: Questions.
Q. I think that probably if there is player that was able to come back time after time, you were also someone who did quite a few times. How is, not the solution, but the way to get out from today from this match?
ARYNA SABALENKA: From this loss, you mean?
Q. Yeah, from the final, losing the final, and to get back again with even more motivation.
ARYNA SABALENKA: In Madrid, you mean, or come back to the tournament here?
Q. In general. As you prefer. I wasn't really thinking specifically Madrid or this tournament. Like in general.
ARYNA SABALENKA: Well, I mean, I lost in several tough finals, and the only way is to have, like, a short memory, completely forget what happened. I mean, of course learn the lesson and then move on.
That's my plan, and I'll try my best to, first of all, perform much better in Madrid, and secondly, to come back here next year and do a better job.
Q. Just a question on the fall that you had in the second set. Is everything okay, like physically, no worries for that?
ARYNA SABALENKA: Yeah, I just wanted to rest a little bit. I was too tired, and I was just having chill moment there (smiling).
No, no, I'm okay. I know how to fall without injury, so I'm okay. Thank you (smiling).
