Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Andrea Lee after her second round; 7-under round. Really good and here at home in Southern California. Tell me about the day you had today.
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I had a lot of fun today. Just played really solid. Had a lot of birdies out there. Took advantage of the holes that I needed to.
Just felt like I was rolling the putter really well and striking it pretty solid, so overall really satisfied with how I played today.
Q. What does it mean to you to be able to play close to home? What kind of support are you seeing out there?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, it means a lot to be back in LA playing. Big thank you to El Caballero Country Club for having us this week as Wilshire is being renovated.
It's a beautiful golf course. I actually saw if for the first time last week. It's in tremendous shape and it's always fun to play in front of a home crowd.
Had my dad out there, few of his friends, college friend came out and watched me yesterday. Just nice to be home almost.
And just in light of everything that's been going on in LA with the fires and stuff, it's nice to see the support in the community up from Walter and Shirley and how they're giving back to the community and trying to help out. So it's really awesome to see.
Q. You mentioned making some birdies, and there has been a lot of birdies throughout the first couple rounds in the field. Did you see that coming in? Did you feel like this course would yield some birdies?
ANDREA LEE: Honestly the first time I went around it last week I didn't think the scores would be that low. I thought the greens were really tricky, and they are. They're really undulated. They could put the pins in some difficult positions and little pockets almost.
I feel like maybe it's not playing as long as I thought it would be, so girls are hitting 8-, 9-iron, pitching wedges into those hole locations and really taking advantage of that.
No, to answer your question, I did not see the scores being as low as they are, but it's cool to see everyone going really low this week.
Q. It's supposed to maybe warm up a little bit over the weekend. Do you anticipate that the scoring might go up a little bit with the greens maybe firming up a little bit and making it more difficult to get it close?
ANDREA LEE: Potentially. I don't see it getting I guess too much firmer and quicker than they already are. I think they're at a pretty good speed. For how undulated they are I don't think they could make them that much quicker.
It will be nice to have some warm weather. I was freezing out there today taking my gloves and beanie. So, yeah, I'm from California, but I'm so weak in cold weather.
Q. Obviously in good position heading into the weekend. What do you feel like you need to get done over the next couple days to get where you want to go?
ANDREA LEE: I think just sticking to my game plan and what I've been doing for the first couple days. I've been striking the ball really well.
At the end of the day I think it just comes down to how many putts can I make. It is down to who can read the greens the best and make the most putts out here, so I think just, yeah, sticking to my game plan and rolling the rock really well I think. That's what it's going to take.
