PORSCHE TENNIS GRAND PRIX

April 14, 2025

Mirra Andreeva

Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Mirra, welcome to Stuttgart. This is your first time playing here. What are your first impressions of the tournament?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, it's my first time in Stuttgart. So far I love the tournament. I love the courts. The view on the center court is very nice. So far so good.

THE MODERATOR: Talk about how your practices have been here so far. You've been here quite a few days. How are you feeling on the court?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, spent a couple days practicing, getting used to the conditions and the court. So far I can say that I feel pretty comfortable playing here.

I hope that I can show some good level of tennis in the next couple of days.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. You've had a great start to the year. Won two big hard court tournaments. Last year you got to the semifinals at Roland Garros. You've had good results at Wimbledon. What do you think is your best surface?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Honestly, now I'm not even sure. Before I would definitely say clay. After a couple of tournaments, I also like to play on hard court.

I think that probably clay and hard court are dominating right now.

Q. Which surface do you find most difficult to get used to when you start playing on it?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Well, I think grass is pretty tricky. Me personally, I need a bit more time to get used to the grass. Yeah, that's what we're going to try to do before the grass season starts.

Yeah, I would say that for me grass is a pretty tricky one.

Q. I wonder if you felt immediately comfortable with this kind of clay, because it's not a proper red clay, it's kind of different. Your impression about the Porsche Arena behind me? Are you distracted by the cars behind?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, of course, it's not the clay that I'm used to. I've spent a couple of days of practicing, getting used to the surface. Now I can say that I feel super comfortable playing here.

Yeah, the view on the center court is super nice. I already thought about which cars I would like to get (smiling). But we're not there yet. I'm just looking around. I still don't have my driver's license.

Yeah, we're going to see. We're going to decide if I get to the final.

Q. A question about your first match here. We know it's going to be a lucky loser. Maybe one could be your sister. What could be the feeling getting on the court to play against her?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Yeah, I know that there is a chance that I might play my sister again. But we're going to take it professionally because we don't have any other choice. If it's going to be like this, then we're just going to go on court and play as any other match. We're going to face each other, and if it happens, probably it's going to be a great and entertaining match.

Q. There are not many women coaches on the WTA Tour. You've obviously had great success with Conchita. Why do you think it is? Why are there not more women coaches?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: Honestly, I don't know. I don't think I can answer that yet because it's my, what, second or third year on the tour, just one year working with Conchita.

Honestly, I have no idea. Luckily me and Conchita, we have a great relationship. I think that it works super, super great. I just hope that we can have many more years to our relationship.

Q. You made a breakthrough in the WTA Tour. After this period of time, you are one of the best players in the world. You are at an age when your development is really good. Looking from your perspective, which factors helped you to develop so rapidly during those last two years?

MIRRA ANDREEVA: I think that because when I play the match, when I play the tournament, I just try to go on court and do enjoy every moment, to kind of have fun, but at the same time take it seriously.

I think that lately I found that balance to not really be depressed or to worry too much on the court, but also sometimes take it easy and let it go.

I think me finding that balance helped me a lot these couple of months.
