MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 11, 2025

Bubba Watson

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Bubba, a little bit different vibe walking off 18 on Friday versus a year ago, huh?

BUBBA WATSON: Yeah, for sure. I heard there was going to be some wind. I felt like the wind started picking up but it's not really picking up enough right now, but good to be finished.

Q. When you walked off a year ago, how did you feel? Were you disappointed? How did you feel about the whole thing a year ago?

BUBBA WATSON: Always disappointed when you struggle. You know, it was a different time. Still battling, trying to get back 100 percent on the leg. I was 100 percent healthy-wise but just to get it stronger.

So we've been working hard this off-season, and we think it's pretty close now. Golf has showed that. It got a little bit better. Changed putters, helped out quite a bit. So yeah, we're in a better spot than last year.

Q. When you came in here this week, were you thinking, I've won here twice already, I could make some noise?

BUBBA WATSON: Yeah, you're always thinking that. The golf course is in great shape. If you can hit the driver well and make some putts -- I've made a couple mistakes over the last two days that cost me, which you can't really do around here.

Had two three-putts that you can't do. Most winners don't have three-putts. So there's a few things that I wish was better, but yeah, I always think I have a chance, especially around this place. Look at Fred Couples. He's 65. You always see Fred's name at some point during the championship.

Q. What's your mindset going into the weekend?

BUBBA WATSON: Just to keep doing the same thing. Now, who knows what's going to happen by the end of the day, but I'm going to be back pretty good, eight, nine, ten shots, so I'm just going to try to play solid, have a high finish, finally get some world rankings points.

Q. Are you still learning about the course? Is there one thing this week that you didn't know before?

BUBBA WATSON: Well, you're always learning because weather dictates things. Weather has dictated that there's new greens out there, and so now you have to re-learn those greens. There was a couple pin placements today that I don't know if I've ever seen.

So yeah, you're always trying to get information. But as you get older that information doesn't do as good as it used to.

Q. What were the pins?

BUBBA WATSON: 17 is a little over -- it used to be the Sunday pin, but it was a little over from there. So I've never really seen it that way. I don't remember a pin sheet looking like that because they gave us multiple numbers, so I don't remember that since I've been playing. Then somewhere else.

Well, yesterday, 16 was way over there -- yeah, 16 was way over there. There was a couple that just -- a little different than what we were expecting, especially we used some pins yesterday that I definitely didn't expect to use that day.

Q. Seems like you're back to Bubba now.

BUBBA WATSON: Well, today I am, but tomorrow could be a totally different ballgame.
