MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 11, 2025

Justin Hastings

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Even par, second round here at the Masters. Difference between yesterday and what you brought into today's round. Just a little more experience?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: No, a whole different golfer. I hit the golf ball the way I expect to. I hit it very, very well and almost was on the flipside putting; whereas my putting and chipping absolutely saved me yesterday; could have been a very high score.

Today I really stripped the ball and probably couldn't have scored a whole lot worse than I did.

Q. How was your rest last night? You mentioned you were exhausted. How do you mentally get ready for an early turnaround?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: I early. It was a great sleep. Yeah, that's about it really.

Q. You just probably needed a couple more birdies then today, right? In other words, couple more birdies and you're making a cut.

JUSTIN HASTINGS: Yeah, we will see. The number in my head was 3-over I thought was probably going to make it. Made a putt on 18 to stay at 4, so to maybe have a chance. I guess we will do some waiting around and hopefully get lucky.

Q. We were talking with Nico this week, Niemann about what the Latin American Amateur has meant for them. What it meant for you to get here?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: Yeah, it's meant the world. Obviously played this tournament since I was 14 years old, so kind of grew up with that being a big part of me.

To finally reap the benefits of that what tournament means and be here and put on a decent performance and kind of show myself that I can get around a place like this with some of the best, it's been such a big part of my life.

Q. Would you say that competition itself, those tournaments prepare you for a week like this?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: Absolutely especially this last year winning. Like the nerves I felt on the 18th hole is something that I don't see being matched for a long time. It's kind of like I know I can perform under that pressure.

I think I can perform under, you know, the second round here at the Masters.

Q. Can you sum you know the experience of this whole week in a few words? Was it at all different than you expected?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: I think it's hard to -- this place exceeds expectations. You can't really expect enough I think.

I think that's just how I would sum up the whole week.

Just blew my expectations away.

Q. Will you you have a decision to make about whether to remain amateur, play in the U.S. Open and the British? I guess if you turn pro you can't do that, correct.

JUSTIN HASTINGS: That's correct. I plan on staying amateur through those majors. Taking it as it comes, though.

Q. What would be your options if you did turn pro? Would you be able to get sponsor invites? How would that work?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: Well --

Q. Whenever you do.

JUSTIN HASTINGS: Well, when I turn pro I would have status through PGA TOUR University. I am 11th or I'm 12th, around there. So I would have status on PGA TOUR America as it stands right now.

If I for some reason decided to turn pro before the British Open I would play on PGA TOUR America.

Q. So that would you allow you to move up to the Korn Ferry?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: Yeah.

Q. Q-School at the end the year?

JUSTIN HASTINGS: Exactly. Yeah.
