Quick Quotes
Q. Have you heard from your Arkansas friends this week?
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: Yeah, I did. I talked to my coach and my assistant coach. Yeah, I did talk to them.
Q. What about Taylor Moore who's been here recently?
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: Yeah, Taylor played last year. I talked to him a couple weeks before this event. He said to have fun and enjoy it. We still see each other a lot on TOUR.
Q. How has been your first Masters experience?
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: It's been awesome.
Q. Had you ever played the course before?
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: I came about a month ago, played two rounds.
Q. Your first round you hit it left on No. 2, almost made birdie, and then again on 10 today. How did you come out of that one?
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: On 10 today I was in the fairway.
Q. Oh, you were?
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: Yeah, yeah. Yesterday I got lucky on 2. From a 6 or a 7 ended up being almost a 4.
Q. Talk about your birdies on 16 and 17 today coming in.
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: I hit a really good 8-iron. We knew that it was a good number. It was an 8-iron, had to be flighted, and we knew to that pin, you had to be aggressive.
Yeah, it was right at it, and it was a perfect putt to leave yourself uphill, a little left to right.
And on 17, that hole, even downwind, that hole was playing hard. Where that pin location is, it's dried up right there and it's not easy to hit it inside 10, 15 feet. That's a plus right there, making a birdie.
Q. Is this pretty much -- going in, was this somewhere around your goal for the first two rounds? And now that you've made this cut, what are your goals for the rest of the tournament?
NICOLAS ECHAVARRIA: I didn't put myself any goals. I just tried to play the best golf I could, and I felt like I did it today. Very proud of myself for hanging in there when it got tough, 10, 11, 12.
So yeah, it's been fun, and hopefully we can keep going.
