Quick Quotes
Q. Noah, first round in the books. Before I ask about your round, the last 24 hours, you were with a couple of Masters legends. Mr. Crenshaw on the Par 3 and Mr. Langer in the first round. A little about those experiences with those two gentlemen.
NOAH KENT: Yeah, it was really cool. Mr. Crenshaw is great. I played with him when I was in eighth grade and saw a video on my phone of his putting stroke. I tried to do my best to copy it. It was a wonderful day.
Q. Your coach told you you probably wouldn't be able to feel your arms on the 1st tee, just hit as hard as you can. Can you talk about the first couple of minutes before your tee shot today.
NOAH KENT: I was super nervous. I put my tee on the ground and said, now driving, my name. I had this real sudden calmness hit me. It was really weird. That's about the highlight of the day. So, yeah.
Q. Had a couple highlights out there. What was maybe the challenge around the greens that you encountered as you kind of got into your round?
NOAH KENT: A little firmer or thin. A couple holes maybe because the dew got off and the wind started blowing. Just golf happened.
Q. How long did it take for maybe the nerves to kind of settle to getting in competition mode between getting here and practicing this morning?
NOAH KENT: On the range is a little nervy. After I hit the first tee ball it's fine. Then you're back in a corner and have a little bit of time to calm down. But I felt fine the whole day.
Q. What's the best piece of advice you got from Mr. Langer today?
NOAH KENT: Mr. Langer is great. He patted me on the back on 15 and said you've got to finish strong. Obviously I didn't. Playing with everybody is a golf tournament. Obviously it's a little more special than any other golf tournament, but at the end of the day, it's still just playing golf.
Q. The goal coming in obviously is low amateur. As today wraps up and you have a little bit more experience on this course, what's the goal for tomorrow?
NOAH KENT: Just enjoy it. You don't know when you're going to be back here. To be here as a 20-year-old is really special.
So just soak it all in. Take a couple more looks around than I did today and just enjoying the moment.
Q. Any eyes from your parents or family or friends following you out there today? It has to be a very special day for them as well.
NOAH KENT: I didn't really see them. I was focused, kind of locked in.
