Q. Nice way to end the day.

CAMERON SMITH: It's been a bit scrappy with the irons. The driver felt all right. Just couldn't quite see the shots out there and couldn't quite commit.

It was a really good scramble. I think I hit a couple of greens on the front nine and maybe three or four on the back. There was still plenty of good in there. The wedges felt great. The putter felt great. Even the driver felt great.

Like I said, I was in some good spots and didn't really make the most of it. I haven't left myself too much work to do, so I can't be too unhappy.

Q. You caused quite a stir this past (indiscernible). Did you know that? You're not really on social media.

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I guess. Funny story, I think -- I met Charlie, the Grayson guy, at teams week this week, and we had a couple of beers and maybe even a couple too many beers, and we got to talking about fashion.

He said, it would be great if you wore a blazer at the Masters. I think it's the place to do it, and I agreed to it. I'm a man of my word, so I did it.

It was actually good, though. I mean, for how a sport coat or a blazer should feel, that one I was able to swing in pretty easy. It was a bit chilly, so it kind of worked out. Yeah, it was good.

Q. What was the funniest comment on your post? Anything?

CAMERON SMITH: Not much. Lots of love really. It was pretty good. I wouldn't say I'm a fashion guru by any standard, but I felt good in it.

Q. As you said, you probably didn't play at your best. (Indiscernible.)

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, it was nice for that putt to go in on the last. That felt a little bit better.

I haven't left myself too much work. For how I felt out there, it felt like it was going to be a bit of a long day. All in all, pretty pleased with the score. If I'm going to win this thing, I definitely need to do better than that. Golf is such a weird game.

I feel like my last round last week at Doral was probably the best I've hit it in a long time, and coming out here today is probably the worst I've hit it in a long time.

You kind of -- yeah, it's just such a weird game sometimes. I felt really good at the start of the week, just a little bit of cleanup on the range, and we'll be good.

Q. Second shot on the 1st hole. Do you remember that one? Pretty bold choice?

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I don't think there was too many choices out there, to be honest. They were all kind of a bit crappy. I've been in there a lot actually on that left side, so I felt right at home. I knew what I had to do. I hit a really good shot to the front of the green and made a nice putt to kind of get the day going, kind of keep the momentum going. So yeah.

Q. Your putting seems to be there.

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, putting seems unreal at the moment. Yeah, I feel like this whole start of the year I've hit a lot of good putts and even a lot of great shots and haven't really got much out of it.

Today I definitely got the most out of my round, which is a good way to start. It gives you the confidence to go at some pins and do stuff you wouldn't normally do and be aggressive. Looking forward to the weekend.

Q. Are there any holes out here where you're specifically off the tee with driver trying to tee it really high or really low depending on what the hole presents to you?

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, absolutely. A couple of those tighter ones like 18, you don't really feel like you can get it over the trees. So that's one where you kind of tee it low and kind of squeeze it down there and hopefully hit it in the fairway.

But for sure, there's a ton of holes where it feels like you're on top of a hill and you can really kind of launch it up over the trees. Then there's a lot of holes where you kind of sit really low and kind of have to hit a shape into the fairway.

Q. Which one would you hit it high?

CAMERON SMITH: I feel like those on 9 and 10 you can kind of hit those high draws down there.

Another one, 14 around the corner, trying to -- you're not really trying to hit it over the tree, but it feels like you have to hit it over the tree. It's a good blend of tee shots there.
