Quick Quotes
Q. Great start today. How would you assess the day?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it was a great start. Obviously I felt like more than the result, I played great today. I kind of had like two bad breaks on the par-5s, but other than that, it could have been a really low round.
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the way I played.
Q. What were the bad breaks?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: On No. 8 I hit a beautiful second shot with my 7-wood that I don't hit more than 250 and I had 270, 275 to the hole and it landed 270. I don't know how. I flushed it.
Yeah, I ended up in a tough spot where it's hard to make up-and-down. I thought I was going to be on the green there. Then when I was on 13, I had a 7-iron in my hand and I just made a bad swing. It's kind of tricky here. Right where I was, it was kind of like a big slope where the ball was way, way on top of my feet.
It's kind of a tricky shot, but it's still a 7-iron. I felt like I could have done a better swing there.
Q. Even though the score wasn't what you were looking for, it sound like you're feeling pretty good.
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, I like the way I played. I made good putts. Probably wanted to make a few putts on the back nine. But yeah, hit it good and decent off the tee. I feel like there's a few tee shots -- that tee shot on 17, I didn't like it. But yeah, I played good.
Q. Feeling good going into tomorrow?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it's great to be here. It's nice to get out here, play golf at Augusta National. It's always a pleasure. Yeah, it's always going to be fun.
