Quick Quotes
Q. How difficult was it out there?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: I thought it was very playable. We've had it a lot tougher. The greens got firm, so it was difficult to get it close. But from a playing condition-wise, the course is in amazing condition. I think coverage on the fairways are probably the best I've seen.
But yeah, there was a score out there. You need things to go your way, but there's definitely a score out there.
Q. Why didn't they go your way?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: I didn't putt well -- well, I didn't make any putts. I couldn't get the ball to the hole. I left everything short when I had birdie opportunities, so I didn't capitalize on those, and then momentum swings -- shots like 18 is a good shot, but it comes up a yard short, you end up making bogey instead of if it goes a yard further you got a six-footer for birdie. It's just one of those days.
Q. Do you have to be a little more aggressive?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: I played beautiful. It's probably the best I've driven the ball around here ever. You know, if I keep doing that, tomorrow's flags might sit better, better on my eye, might have better opportunities.
Today was a lot of front flags being firm, so it was tough to get it close. I think tomorrow flags will be a bit further back. With the firm greens, it'll give you better opportunities to get it closer.
Q. Would you prefer an earlier tee-off time?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: I actually prefer late. The ball goes a lot further here at Augusta in the afternoons. It makes the course -- not hitting it as far as the other guys anymore makes it much more playable.
But I actually haven't looked at tomorrow morning if it's going to be freezing or not. I've got a reasonably late morning tee time, so I think it'll be fine. Tee times are good.
Q. Looking at your score compared to Christiaan's and Thriston's, would you say it's experience --
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Did they shoot?
Q. Thriston was 7-over, and 4-over for Christiaan.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: You know, the guys are good. It's a golf course that's always on edge. It doesn't matter if I think it's playing fairly easy. Getting it in the wrong spot, you can quickly make bogeys or double bogeys. It's unforgiving in that sense.
I'm not sure how they played, but definitely thought there was at least like a 2- or 3-under out there.
Q. How special is it to have your daughter with you?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Yeah, it's crazy. It's the first time that she's ever walked 18 holes with me. That made me proud.
