Quick Quotes
Q. It's really good to see you. Your pop's here?
DANIEL BERGER: He is. He's walking around somewhere.
Q. I guess you've had lots of these over the past few months, the new firsts after the injury and everything. You haven't been here since 2022. What type of things are you cherishing today about just specifically being at Augusta National?
DANIEL BERGER: I think any time you're here you've got to be grateful. It's a tough event to get into, and it means you've done some good things, whether it was last year or at the beginning of the year.
Just proud of the way that I've kind of battled over the last year and put myself in position to play another major, which is always fun.
Q. I remember when I spoke to you the first time you were ever here, and you kind of told me, unlike a lot of other people, you didn't watch a lot of golf on TV. So it didn't have as much of that, oh, my gosh, like I've seen this on TV my whole life; I'm here. But having played here a bunch of times now, is there more of an appreciation, maybe things that you cherish or just sort of hold that you're enjoying again here today?
DANIEL BERGER: I definitely think you're spot on with that. I think you can take it for granted for sure, and then you miss a couple years and you come back and you're like, wow, I really missed this. I love to be here.
Again, you can't win the golf tournament if you're not in it, so it was nice to qualify a couple weeks ago. See what happens over the next couple days.
Q. What are some of the specific things that are just truly unique here? Everyone's got their own take on that. Just through Daniel Berger's eyes.
DANIEL BERGER: I think, when you watch it on TV you don't have an appreciation for the amount of slope that are in the greens and how fast the greens are. I think obviously Monday was really wet. Yesterday was fast, but then today was just -- you know, you could see they've kind of flipped the switch a little bit. You can get a good feel for what the week's going to be like.
Q. You've felt healthy all year so far?
DANIEL BERGER: Oh, yeah.
Q. No back, nothing?
DANIEL BERGER: Yeah, 100 percent. I feel great.
Q. So as far as your game goes, compared to when I talked to you at the Cognizant Classic, is everything on the up and up? I know you did some extra putting.
DANIEL BERGER: Yeah, no, it's definitely in a good position. I've focused on my process the last couple days and done the things I need to do to prepare myself.
The rest is about going out and having fun and enjoying it. Whatever happens is going to happen. You can't control the results. Just have a good time and do the work.
Q. Who did you play with today?
DANIEL BERGER: Today I played with Justin Rose.
Q. Cool. Are you guys close?
DANIEL BERGER: Yeah, I've known him for a long time. He's played well out here. Sometimes you look for guys that have played well just to get a little piece of advice here and there. It's a tough course, and it's going to be a challenge.
Q. Do you talk a lot? Are you constantly asking him for advice along the way?
DANIEL BERGER: Just on a few holes here and there. I've known Rosie for 10-plus years now. Nice to play with a guy that I'm friendly with and someone that has good knowledge around here.
