Quick Quotes
Q. Tommy, you've just been out with Shane and Rory and John. Good fun out there? Who won the money again?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Me and Rory won actually. You've got to pick your partners, haven't you?
No, we had a good time. Great four ball; obviously very good players. I always feel like I'm lucky with the guys I get to play with in practice rounds. Yesterday I was out with Justin Rose; today I had those guys.
It's just watching them play around here as well. There's a lot of experience, a lot of success around here, so it's always handy to be out with those guys.
Q. How much are you looking forward to this afternoon, seeing Frankie and Poppy and the Lowery girls running around?
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: That 9th hole is my boys' Masters, so all three of my boys will be wanting to hit a tee shot on the 9th.
It's a great -- I think it's so unique for such a big tournament and obviously a career-defining event really in a way to have something that's so personal and so fun, like on the day before.
I think it's just one of the most -- one of the unique things about the event and one of the special things about this week.
All our kids are so close, so they'll all have a great time together. And so will me, Rory, and Shane as well.
Q. We just spoke a few weeks ago and saying how incredibly consistent you've been so far this season.
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I messed it up last week.
Q. Sorry. Put the markers on you there. But it's been pretty good on the whole. This is obviously famously a second-chance golf course. You're an absolute flusher, a ball striking machine. You must arrive here and feel as if this place really fits your eye.
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I love playing here. I feel like I've played well here in the past. Last year was my best finish by a long way, but I feel like I've had some years where I've been close to getting in contention or finishing top 10s and haven't quite done it.
But I've been on the edge, so last year was really good.
Like played a few weeks in the wind, gained some bad habits. I was happy to see Butch yesterday and this morning. It's kind of at the same time it's a good opportunity. I would have loved to have turned up this week feeling like I was playing great, but I didn't.
At the same time, it's a great opportunity. You get to a major, and if I can do the right things, like work on the right things and actually have a good mindset and find my game as the week goes on, I feel like I've played well in practice and feel like I've done some good stuff. It's a great opportunity to do that and learn from that.
Hopefully there will be many more majors. I feel like you're always trying to learn, always trying to improve.
Yeah, I do love the challenge of this golf course. I think being able to come back to it every year, there's a lot of known things, if you like. The course always throws plenty up that you've never experienced before. But I think experience does play a factor here.
This is my ninth Masters, so I'm getting on a bit. I'm happy that I get to keep coming back. I'm looking forward to it. I am.
Q. I've been asked to ask this question by my colleagues in the northwest. It's about your memories of Goodison Park, how sad you're going to be to bid farewell to the old place.
TOMMY FLEETWOOD: It is sad, but I think we should all -- like I've never been able to go to Goodison Park as much as I'd like. I've always traveled all my life. I always loved going there, got some amazing memories from that place, like so many other fans will have.
I think we have to enjoy this time now, got, what, two games left at Goodison? I think enjoy it. Everyone can have a cry on the last night, and that will be an amazing night, a really emotional night.
I actually think, like for football, what a place Goodison Park has been over the years. So I think it's a very special place. All of us are like part of the football club, if you like, from fan base and everyone. I think we have to look forward and be positive about the future and have an amazing stadium we're walking into.
So really enjoy this period and get excited about the next stages of whatever the future holds for everyone in the football club. But I'm looking forward to it.
