Q. Rory, how special was that one out there on 9?

RORY MCILROY: Yeah, very cool. It's just such a fun afternoon. Being out there with Shane and Tommy and their families, we're all very, very close, so to have the kids out there and them having fun is the most important thing.

It's a really nice way to sort of end the preparation going into what is the serious part of the week. So it's nice to be able to get out here and do this.

Q. How important is it having a fun day like this before you get into the meat of it tomorrow?

RORY MCILROY: Yeah, it is. I think it -- you know, the night before one of the biggest tournaments of the year, I think to have this at -- yeah, it's nice to -- it's a bit of a distraction. It takes your mind off it a little bit.

Obviously going to bed tonight you start to think about the important stuff and why we're all here. Yeah, it's certainly fun to be out there with everyone.

Q. What's your main focus heading into tomorrow? One thing, if you do well the next four days, you'll be in contention come the second nine on Sunday?

RORY MCILROY: I think like -- I've preached this the whole year, but just managing my game and minimizing my mistakes. If I get myself out of position, putting myself back in position. Just playing really smart and being really logical and rational about everything.

If I can do that for four days, I feel like I'll have a good chance.
