MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 8, 2025

Corey Conners

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Nice to be back here? How was today with your pals?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, great to be back here. It was a beautiful day. Fun company as well. Great to play alongside the other Canadians. I had a great time out there. Yeah, good to be back.

Q. Anything left to learn in days like this from your pals or just react?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I mean, I feel like I've got some good experience over the years here, and I've learned a ton from Mike. Try and continue to learn as much as possible from him.

Yeah, there is always stuff to learn. I feel like I've got a good game plan, good strategy, know some of the intricacies of the golf course.

You can never know enough.

Q. Can you just speak to how the golf course fits your eye?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I think it fits my eye well. I like to curve the ball right to left and I feel like I can see that shot on a lot of holes.

Particularly some tee shots and key tee shots, and then the iron shots as well. Feel like knowing I can strike my irons solid gives me a lot of freedom to hit certain pockets of greens and give myself the best looks I can.

Q. Is there a whole that is noticeably more difficult this year, whether it's one of the new greens?

COREY CONNERS: I wouldn't say so. If I didn't know they were new greens you wouldn't be able to tell. They do such a good job of getting the whole place in perfect shape.

Yeah, I think No. 8, you know, being a newer green, may be a little trickier around the green. Some of the short game pitch shots, just releasing a bit more and tougher to keep them close to some of those holes.

Q. Three Top 10s in your last four starts. Can you apply some of that momentum into this week sore is this a net new challenge?

COREY CONNERS: It's a new challenge. I feel like I've been playing some good golf lately, and just looking forward to putting it to the test this week. It's a new challenge. I can certainly remember some of the things or some of the things that worked well for me in the past and try and do more of that.

It's a new week and new challenge.

Q. How much does past success here matter more than maybe any other tournament?

COREY CONNERS: I think there is an added comfort level knowing you had some good rounds out here, knowing what it takes to play well. I think that's definitely huge here compared to some of the weeks.

Obviously it's the biggest golf tournament in the world. Yeah, just fun to be here any time, but definitely having had some decent results, there is lots of positives I can draw from.

Q. Mike talked about sort of stacking experience on top of experience, success on top of success before breaking through here. Do you think you're at a point in your career where taking that next step is a real possibility, and do you feel more ready to win this year than ever before?

COREY CONNERS: You know, I'm certainly excited with the way I've been playing. Feel like there is a win around the. Just got to stick to the game plan. You know, we'll see what happens. Try and get myself in the mix on Sunday.

I do feel like being in the situations I've been in the past year and so far this year, feel a little bit more comfortable and ready to get it done.

Q. Anything you can point to the last two years, missed cut (indiscernible.) You didn't do well compared to the three previous years?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I think last year the course played really firm and fast. It was really windy. Wasn't able to hit it good enough to keep myself out of the tricky spots around here.

I think the missed cut the prior year, it was tricky coming off a win. So high, so much confidence, but takes a lot out of you and hard to back that up.

Q. Taylor making his Masters debut. How did he look out there. Kid in a candy store?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, he looked great out there. I know he got to have a couple looks at the course last week. It's so special being here still for me every year I get to come back.

But, yeah, it was awesome to share that experience with him. Tried to tell him a few of the things that I learned over the years. But I think this golf course is great for him.

He hits it long and straight. Good iron player. Really creative. Good touch around the greens. I think it sets up great for him. Game is looking great and excited for him to get his first Masters underway.

Q. It's an interesting time to be a Canadian in America. I heard people ask about what people are saying back home, and some sort of apologetic Americans. How have you found it being here? Anything similar?

COREY CONNERS: You know, just kind of staying in my bubble. Hasn't really been a topic.

You know, love that a bunch of Canadians are out here supporting us. Yeah, not really my thing. Just stay away from anything political.

Q. What's the best part of the par-3 contest?

COREY CONNERS: I think getting to have your family out there. I'm really excited. New little guy be out there with us this year. It's a special time with family, and really cool that I'm able to share that with them and they're able to join me inside the ropes.

Q. When you're showing a guy around, what kind of stuff are you talking about out there?

COREY CONNERS: Just some of the places to miss. Some of the good places to miss the greens. I think some of the angles of some of the approach shots, layup shots, some of the cool putts that you can aim sideways and it will funnel down the hole.

Just some of those things I picked up on or some things I felt out there and some things I felt worked for me.

Q. How is the new putter working on these greens?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it's good. I think first put it in play was on really fast greens. Greens are rolling really quick here this week. Yeah, it's been feeling good.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, if I could choose I would love to play really fast greens all the time.

Q. When you build up your book on a course and play it multiple times...

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it's big. You can't learn everything in one round. Layered a bunch of rounds on each other, and lots of learning, lots of note taking. Feel like, yeah, there is not too many surprises out there for me anymore.

You know, I've kind of tried to see as much as possible and kind of plan for that.
