Quick Quotes
Q. You met Rory eight years ago at Erin Hills.
NOAH KENT: Yeah.
Q. Played some practice holes. (Indiscernible.)
NOAH KENT: Yeah, it's really cool. Always looked up to him. Always kind of was the guy that I followed growing up. He's the reason why I play golf today. For him to spend a little time with me means the world.
Q. What was it like out there? What did you guys talk about?
NOAH KENT: Just chit-chatted, smalltalk. It's really cool to see the atmosphere and how bad this place really wants him to win. Every single hole it's Rory, Rory, Rory, and it's just really cool.
Q. Talk about the pairing with Bernhard.
NOAH KENT: No, yeah, it's really special. It's his last Masters so really cool to spend it with him. He's an all-time great. Cool to be with him and enjoy the first 36 holes with him.
Q. Do you think about you potentially playing golf that late and playing at that level that Bernard has played for all these years? Tears his Achilles and gets right back on the saddle. Do you think about your longevity?
NOAH KENT: I saw him in the training room. I was getting worked on today and he was in there and they were talking about his Achilles. He's unbelievable. This is his 41st Masters I think. I mean, double my age. It's unbelievable. Yeah, really cool.
Q. Did you stay up and watch the game last night?
NOAH KENT: I watched until halftime. I thought we were going to lose. Might have been a good thing I turned the game off.
Q. You were the reason.
NOAH KENT: Maybe. Maybe.
Q. Have four of you up there last night at the Crow's Nest?
NOAH KENT: Yeah.
Q. Best night's sleep you ever got or a little bit underwhelming in terms of the rest you got?
NOAH KENT: Yeah, no, I got a good amount of rest. Probably wasn't the best rest. Just really cool being up there. Yeah, really special.
Q. What about the amateur dinner stood out to you? Just spoke with Evan Beck. His impression was learning that you belong here, you've earned your right to be here. What are your takeaways? Obviously a little bit younger than Evan beck.
NOAH KENT: Gary Koch was a speaker and Mr. Chairman. Mr. Carr who spoke to us just building us all up and telling us you earned your right to be here and you deserved your right to be here. Don't shy away from the moment. Just be ready to go out and play golf.
Q. You and some of the members of your team (indiscernible.)
NOAH KENT: Yeah.
Q. What have you guys in your opinion learned from...
NOAH KENT: Yeah, it's like learning the history of the game. There is so much more to it than I think the average person really knows. Jay Sigel is one of the best amateur golfers of all time and you can ask any college golfer and they probably don't know who he is.
So just being able to be around those people that have done such great things in the game and getting the roots deep into it is really cool.
Q. You were playing youth hockey. (Regarding Brian Rafalski.)
NOAH KENT: Yeah.
Q. Did he steer you towards golf?
NOAH KENT: No, that's a good one. My time with Rafalski was fun but short lived. So, yeah.
Q. Who was in the Crow's Nest?
NOAH KENT: Jose, Hiroshi and Justin.
Q. What did you guys do?
NOAH KENT: Chilled out. Talked about who we were playing with. Watched a little bit of the game. Kind of just looked around at everything up there; called it a night.
Q. Did you grow up a Gator fan?
NOAH KENT: I grew up a Hawkeye fan. Yeah, so Hawkeyes, switched to Gators now.
Q. Was it weather that made you primarily want to switch?
NOAH KENT: There was other things. Weather was a big one. Yeah, there was a couple other reasons.
Q. Schedule?
NOAH KENT: Yeah. Coaches. But, yeah.
Q. Which tee box today, when did you have to take a moment and be like, oh, my gosh, this crowd is bigger than I expected? Any shots you looked around and said, okay, I guess I'm at the Masters now?
NOAH KENT: Hole 1 was really cool. Played four holes on the front nine and went to the physio and then played with Rory at 11:00. 10 tee was crazy because walked up and Rahm and Jose and all those guys were up there. I got on the 12th tee and was like, this is really cool. Really cool. So just the amount of fans out here just for a practice round is unbelievable. Yeah.
Q. (Indiscernible.)
NOAH KENT: Doesn't compare. Yeah.
Q. Not as many yellow shirts.
NOAH KENT: Got green, pink, white, blue, yellow.
Q. A lot of the Caitlin Clark jerseys?
NOAH KENT: Not this time.
Q. You said you only played four holes before you came into the physio?
NOAH KENT: Yeah.
Q. What is going on?
NOAH KENT: No, just slept on my neck wrong. Yeah, I don't necessarily fit in the bed, so, yeah. Yep, we're good.
Q. You're not going back there tonight?
NOAH KENT: No. Going back to the house.
Q. How about expectations and goals?
NOAH KENT: 36 holes you got to get through before some real goals start it set in. Just enjoying the moment. Just looking around. Not something you probably do a lot in golf tournaments, you kind of get to look around and see everybody.
So, yeah.
Q. (Indiscernible.) (Regarding attention.) Does that play into your success that you had to embrace?
NOAH KENT: Yeah, kind of -- I like when people watch me. I kind of started hitting it pretty nice on the back nine. All the people around kind of lifting you up a little bit. You hear the, go Noahs, just little subtle things.
So, yeah.
Q. (Regarding a different club on 17.)
NOAH KENT: Yeah, he hit 3-wood and we talked about why he hits 3-wood.
Q. Any advice around the greens?
NOAH KENT: Couple things. Reading it from different angles. Knowing where Raes Creek is at all times. Small stuff.
Q. Just for the record, we spoke about this earlier, amateur dinner last night. You have played in what I call the hole Trinity of player dining. Can you give me your ranking of player dining of amateur golf that you witnessed?
NOAH KENT: I think here is No. 1; Northeast is No. 2; Terracotta is No. 3.
What did I say is 4? Might throw a curve ball. Porter Cup is actually really good. They usually do New York Strip and lobster and U.S. Am is probably five oops.
Q. Jones Cup honorable mention?
NOAH KENT: Oh, shoot I forgot. That's a hard one to honorable mention.
Q. You do want to play the Jones Cup.
NOAH KENT: I'll edit out Porter Cup and put the Jones Cup in.
