6-4, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.
Q. So you are improving? So now the goal is to have good results in major tournaments? First round in Monte-Carlo is good for you.
ALEXANDRE MULLER: Yes, it's a good victory. Monte-Carlo is a very prestigious tournament. It's almost equal to Grand Slams, because the setting is so beautiful and it's important for me to do well here.
Q. At 5-4 and in the second set also you had a break. Was it as easy as it seemed?
ALEXANDRE MULLER: No, it was a big fight. I had breakpoints against me in the first set, and at 3-All also again he had an advantage and breakpoint in the second set.
So it was not as simple as it seemed, but it's a good one. It ends up being 6-4, 6-4. It's a pleasure.
Q. You don't want to do too much, but you are playing everywhere. You try to play a lot, but how can you avoid being burnt out?
ALEXANDRE MULLER: If you look at my quarterfinal in Marrakech, you see that I was not able to have enough energy that day. It was a bet going to Marrakech. I won one match. I was among the top four seeded, so I knew I could earn some points.
I was just wanting to do match by match, but I was a bit tired when I arrived in Marrakech. But today I bounced back, so I'm happy and I will be careful in the next weeks not to play too much, even if I will have to play Munich, Masters 1000. But for challengers, Aix-en-Provence and all that, I won't be there. I will concentrate on Masters 1000.
Q. So for you, Monte-Carlo is as important as Grand Slams? What are the feelings after? Were you a bit afraid before that match here?
ALEXANDRE MULLER: No, I was all right, because I had a practice after Marrakech and things came back quite rapidly. I felt a bit of tension just before the match, because it was Monte-Carlo, after all, but then I was able to really focus into the match.
Q. In an interview you said that tennis was mainly a job for you, a source of revenue. When people are talking about trying to earn more money in Grand Slams, what does this inspire in you?
ALEXANDRE MULLER: I agree with them. When you see the famous draw with the percentage of what tennis gives back to the players compared with other players, we are 15% down. NBA, 50%. Golf, 40%. So we deserve a greater share of the revenue percentage.
Of course it's the top 20 players who ask for that, but I believe it should not be only them earning more but more players.
Q. How are you going to keep improving or at least stabilizing your level? What do you need to do to go even higher?
ALEXANDRE MULLER: Well, it's about small details. It's only work, day after day. I will manage day after day, little by little.
