AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 5, 2025

Lottie Woad

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Can you sum up what you're feeling right now?

LOTTIE WOAD: I'm pretty frustrated. Played decent tee to green, just didn't hole really any putts, and that's what it came down to in the end.

Q. Can you walk us through your second shot on 10, what you were facing?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I put a good swing on it, it was just the wrong club. Thought it was meant to be into the wind, and off the downslope it came out a bit too flat, so probably should have just hit one less club. Then got in an unfortunate position, so probably was always going to make 6 from there.

Q. Which two clubs were you in between?

LOTTIE WOAD: 5 and 6.

Q. So you went with 5?

LOTTIE WOAD: (Nodding.)

Q. After that happened, what were you trying to do to help yourself regroup at that point?

LOTTIE WOAD: I mean, just make birdies really. Other than 16, I gave myself short putts at it on every hole for birdie, so I kind of did what I could from there. Just burned a lot of edges.

Q. Did you feel like you had to shoot a low score today? There were so many people seemingly in the hunt. Did you feel like you had to push today compared to last year?

LOTTIE WOAD: I didn't really attack it that differently. I mean, there were some good scores today, but there were also some not-so-good scores. I was thinking 3- to 5-under would be pretty good.

Q. You made a pretty inspired comeback after what happened on 10. Did Steve give you a pep talk? Did you give yourself a tongue lashing inside? How do you sort of explain the turnaround?

LOTTIE WOAD: I mean, I was fine. I hit what I thought was a good shot into 10, it was just the wrong club. Yeah, at that point there was nothing to lose. Just said, let's make some birdies, and that was really it.

Q. How would you describe the walk up 18 a year later?

LOTTIE WOAD: I mean, wasn't as nice as last year, but still pretty good.

Q. What do you think you'll learn from this experience, putting yourself right back in the hunt again?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think you learn every time you're in contention. It's just putting yourself in those positions really. You can't win every time. I can be pretty happy with how I played this week. Like the goal coming into it was just to be in contention. So got that, and yeah, it was a pretty good defense in the end.
