Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. Improved two strokes in your performance out here last year. Having some experience under your belt, how big was that for you coming into the day?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: It's huge. Every round you can play at Augusta National will definitely help you with the difficulty of this course. Surely brought some experience from last year. Kind of knew what to expect.
Unfortunately didn't play the way I wanted to, but I mean, it's golf. It's ups and downs.
Q. Even though you've been here before, still jitters on the No. 1 tee box?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: For sure. I don't think this stage that you can walk up on the first tee without any nerves. It's nerve-wracking, very overwhelming, and emotional.
I'm super happy and blessed I'm happy to be here and tee'd it up this morning.
Q. After the first round and all the low numbers everybody put up, there some deceptively tough conditions this week. How did you battle that?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: It's a fight every day on the golf course. You're battling firm greens or weather or tough rough, so every round is a challenge. Just embrace it and try to do your best and play your game and not force anything is definitely going to help you.
Q. What's the biggest thing you'll take from this week?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: It's so many memories. My backpack of memories is stacked from here. It's a week that I'll remember for the rest of my life, both times I've been here. Unfortunately it's going to be my last as I'm turning pro this summer.
Going to bring this experience with me forever.
Q. Is there a particular shot or hole that stands out to you that you think is a story you'll be able to tell your kids one day?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: Teeing of the first hole my legs were like noodles. I could barely walk down the first valley, so that's definitely one of them.
And obviously hole 12 is such a signature hole and been a lot of memories from there in the past in the Masters that I watched for many years. I would say those two are on the top of my list.
Q. You got teammates in this event, too, some of those tournaments. Just as a team, how can you build upon this and not only with the relationships with your teammates but building the program in South Carolina going forward?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: Yeah, we have three participants here, three top 20 players in the world. That's everything a program could ever ask for. We try to inspire all of our teammates and ourselves to be better every day.
I think coming home from this event just spreading the positive vibes and the excitement of being here, I know that every single girl on our team would like to be here and play here, so just trying to motivate and work hard.
We have a couple tournaments left in the postseason that we would like to get some rings at. Yeah, getting ready.
