Quick Quotes
Q. What did you take out of today's practice round?
ANDREA REVUELTA: I enjoyed it a lot, and having my family here and my brother too. He came this year. And playing with Rafi and Paula, which are my friends since I was really little was really, really special.
I think I experienced last year's competition round, so that was very helpful knowing places that you can be in and knowing what -- how nervous -- like how the nerves have going to change your game tomorrow. It was really good having played last year. I think that helped me a lot.
Q. What are some of those strategic things, tee shots or lines that you know that you have to take?
ANDREA REVUELTA: This is -- I think this is a golf course that a lot of people have played, and I hear all about it. Like my round, my coach and Paula's coach were saying X and X here did this.
I feel like this is such a magical place. I feel like you have to make it your own, and you have to play with your game whatever you think it is.
I think for me the driver is a really important play for me. I mean, putting it in the fairway and having a clear shot to the green helps a lot. Being in the fairway, you're not in the rough, the greens are quite firm, so it's really important to be able to hit a good iron from the fairway and be able to stop it on the green.
Then the greens are amazing. It's just so enjoyable. Then just having a really nice short game really helps. Tomorrow anything can happen, so it's pretty hard to say what's the actual key to this course because I think there's no key.
Q. You've experienced a 1st tee moment on this course before, but now that you're only a shot off the lead, what do you think tomorrow is going to be like before that 1st tee shot?
ANDREA REVUELTA: I'm actually excited for it. I feel like having goosebumps is something that I don't get very often, and this tournament is the only one that gets them for me. So I'm excited to -- you know, instead of being like, oh, my God, I'm so nervous. My hands are shaking. That fairway is so narrow, the bunkers there. Just be like I'm nervous and this is great, because all my emotions are hiding right now.
You get to live this with my coach who's here from Spain, and I get to live this with him and enjoy it, because in ten years time what I'm going to remember is those goosebumps and not how many I shot.
Q. Have you given yourself a chance to dream about what winning this event would mean to you?
ANDREA REVUELTA: I've dreamt it a lot, to be honest. I've set this speech in my head like probably a thousand times to be honest. I feel golf is a game you have to play shot by shot. Yeah, just playing shot by shot really helps. Thinking that whatever happens, it's for a reason.
You've come here with your homework done. I've practiced, I know my game, I know I'm ready, and I'm excited to see what tomorrow holds for me.
Q. Solheim Cup was another big moment for you. What's the most nervous you've been so far in your young career?
ANDREA REVUELTA: I don't -- I think that playing Junior Ryder Cup. I teed off at Marco Simone last year, and playing in the -- we played the last round where in the actual Ryder Cup golf course, so that was -- that was a huge stage for me.
But ANWA is certainly -- I wasn't in the last group, so I didn't get the -- like I wasn't in the tournament, but I definitely had a lot of goosebumps on that 1st tee.
Q. What do you do to manage your nerves when they pop up?
ANDREA REVUELTA: Just like don't be afraid to let them in. I feel like avoiding them for being like, oh, I'm nervous, I don't want to be nervous, does the opposite effect. It like panics you.
I think that I've got goosebumps. Yeah, I've got them. They're there for a reason to put me like, to keep me alert, to keep me nervous. If you not embrace them and be like, okay, it's going to be okay, and you've been through this before. Just enjoy it too because I don't get goosebumps very often. So yeah.
Q. Is there a moment, whether that's with golf clubs or something amongst your teammates or somebody that you met here or a fellow Spaniard throughout the past couple of years that really captures the joy of Augusta National Women's Amateur?
ANDREA REVUELTA: Yeah. I feel like ANWA for me -- I mean, seeing -- I remember seeing on TV the first edition, I saw Kupcho and Fassi's like little moment they had on the course. I just looked at it. I think it was five years ago maybe. I was 12, 13.
So I looked at it, and I was like, I want to be there and I want to be one of those girls one day. You know, that's -- like thinking about me being 12 years old on my sofa back home and seeing me here now today is really special. It is.
Q. Anybody in the golf world that's pretty cool that's reached out to you to congratulate you for being here and wish you luck for tomorrow?
ANDREA REVUELTA: I can't really say anybody that's really important, but I would say my mom is really important for me. She's supporting me every step of the way and my dad's here.
I think that also my teammates, I think they're pretty good golfers too, Megha, Paula. Having them here is an honor and a privilege, yeah.
