AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 4, 2025

Avery McCrery

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. What has this experience been like over the last week, getting a chance to play in your first Augusta National Women's Amateur?

AVERY McCRERY: It's been an incredible experience. I had my birthday yesterday, which was pretty special. Obviously a little sorry that I didn't make the cut, but I was still happy that I could be here celebrating.

Honestly, I've just had a really incredible week with great people and had a good experience.

Q. What was it like today to walk out of Augusta National and be able to play 18 holes on this incredible course?

AVERY McCRERY: I got here as early as I could this morning because I was like I'm not going to pass up this morning.

It's just incredible to be here. You see it on TV every year, and you're like I always want to play here. To have that come true is just a dream.

Honestly today, I was just walking down the fairways just trying to soak it in because I was like this is incredible.

I was telling Phoebe, now when I watch it on TV, I could critique the pros and say I did this better than you. You should have read this putt better. So I can just have some fun with it.

Q. Did you have any shot that stood out to you that was memorable, that you've seen anyone hit on TV or anything?

AVERY McCRERY: Well, we did the skip shot on 16, or at least we tried to. Phoebe and Andie both skipped it. I sort of hit a stinger and it didn't hit the water, so that was kind of disappointing. That one was fun.

Then honestly, just being out here and able to see everything. Like 18, I had no idea that's what the hole actually looks like. Like it looks flat on TV and the bunkers don't look that intimidating, but they're like gigantic.

It's just cool to see everything up close and be able to play it as well.

Q. You got a chance to play the practice round today with Andie and Phoebe. Andie is your future teammate. How excited does that make you to come to Durham next August and join the team with Andie and the rest of them?

AVERY McCRERY: Just super excited. I know everyone on the team, and they're all super nice. I enjoy hanging out with them. It's great to be able to play with Andie and sort of simulate what it's going to be like next year, get some banter going and see what irks her a little bit. I got all that.

Yeah, it's just a great experience, and I can't wait for August.

Q. What's it like this week to have early on six, and then end up five Blue Devils here as a family to kind of experience this with them?

AVERY McCRERY: Honestly, I'm super grateful. I think, if I was here and I sort of didn't know anyone, I would have had a worse experience. Having everyone here was super helpful. We were all celebrating my birthday was super great.

It's always good to have people you know, helps you feel more comfortable. And at least from Phoebe and Emma, I got some info from their past experiences and helpful tips and whatnot. It was really great to have them here, and I appreciate that they helped us out.
