AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 4, 2025

Macy Pate

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. What was it like stepping up to the 1st tee box?

MACY PATE: It was very exciting and surreal. I never played Augusta National. So I just had a great time just sharing that with my family and my teammate, Carolina.

Q. Did it live up to the hype a little bit?

MACY PATE: Definitely. I would say it's a little bittersweet considering I'm not playing tomorrow. It was just a great time to be playing the golf course. It was fun to not have the pressure in the practice round. So I got to play and enjoy it.

Q. You played in the Vaughn Taylor Championship not too far from here. You whisper about Augusta National Golf Club, but to be in here and be in that reality, has it really sunk in for you?

MACY PATE: I don't know if it sunk in. Yesterday I kept saying we get to play Augusta National tomorrow. It's just a cool thing knowing that I've played Augusta National, and I'm excited to come back to this tournament next year and have a round under my belt to feel more confident.

Q. How much have you grown as a person and a golfer since playing Vaughn Taylor?

MACY PATE: A lot. It feels so long ago. I thought the Vaughn Taylor was the biggest tournament I'd ever play in, which is pretty cool considering I've played ANWA and played Augusta National.

I'm definitely more mature. Definitely been through a lot more on the golf course. It means a lot to be able to play in bigger and better tournaments since then.

Q. Who was your caddie?

MACY PATE: Yes, I had Coach Kim on the bag. She was awesome. Just kept me cool out there. She helped me a lot on every shot and helped me read the greens, which was really helpful. So we had a great time together.
