AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 4, 2025

Louise Rydqvist

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Second time playing this event. Less nerves? Same nerves? Did it change at all?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: I think it's the same nerves. However, I know kind of what to expect tomorrow with the crowds and just the overwhelming feeling of the support of women's golf and just kind of more enjoy it out there.

I'm looking forward to it so, so much. It's going to be very exciting.

Q. I know last year it was all three of you guys, Hannah and Eila, but you're all Gamecocks now. So what's this experience been like as teammates, all three of you now playing in this event?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: I don't think you'd rather want to dream about anything than having other participants on your team playing this event. We share this experience with each other, and we thrive to beat each other every day in and out, even though we cheer on each other and support each other full on as well.

So I'm super excited to have them by my side and to represent the Gamecocks with them.

Q. How would you describe Eila's personality?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: She's so fun. She's a little crazy. I love that side of her. Just super bubbly, extroverted. Just love to be around her. Her game is obviously very, very talented and amazing.

Q. What's it like when she joins the team in January and gets a win right off the bat? I assume you knew she was really good, you'd seen her play, but for her to do it that quickly, what was that like?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: I wasn't surprised at all. She knows what she's capable of, and we all do. Just super happy and proud of her for actually pulling through.

Q. How different were the conditions at champions retreat this year versus last year?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: Last year was a real battle with the weather. I think I swinged in like four clothes or four layers on the top. * this year to walk out there with a skirt and a T-shirt was definitely different. Super happy that it is that way.

However, with an even round the first round, I knew that I had to kind of score low yesterday. To be able to do that and fight on and be standing here and playing the final round tomorrow is something that I'm very proud of.

Q. Louise, even though you've played here before, how important is it to see it again in a practice round? And how much did today feel like preparation for tomorrow?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: It's super important. I think any round you can get out here with the perspective of how tough this golf course really is, I think the more rounds you can get under the belt, the better you have the chance to form. So it's very important.

The course plays a little different every year, and there might be a couple new flags out there that we haven't seen before. So the practice round is super important.

Q. What makes it so different from the other courses you compete on?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: I mean, the green complexes. Every hole is different. I think it's a very big benefit to be able to curve the ball both ways out here, both draw and fade.

It requires a lot of skills, and I'm trying to bring my best skills tomorrow.

Q. Where does your confidence really come from? I was talking to Eila the other day, and she said, yeah, you come out here and practice for five minutes and you go out and shoot a 62. Where does that really stem from?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: I think just knowing and being -- knowing myself, I think I've come to the point where I have an identity as a golfer and as a person, and I'm just not -- I'm not only a golfer because I feel like being stuck in that mindset and you get injured or something happens, it's even tougher to go through.

So I think kind of distinguishing my personal identity with my golfer identity has brought me a long way. I'm very determined. I know what my plan is, my goals are, and I'm working towards them every day.

Sometimes two hours of practice is better than five because I know that I'm getting my things done, and I don't waste a whole lot of energy and time just sitting out in the facility doing nothing.

Yeah, I love to practice. However, I love to compete even more. So the more I can compete, the happier I am.

Q. Did you decide who you're going to have on your bag tomorrow?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: Yes, it's going to be my boyfriend Rasmus. He's a comfort for me, and I think that's what I need out here tomorrow with the crowds.

Q. Are you going to pass along any more apples to him on the course?

LOUISE RYDQVIST: For sure, he's going to carry my apples, bananas, peanuts, whatever I hand him. He does it with a smile on his face, so super happy to have him by my side.
