AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 3, 2025

Lottie Woad

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Can you take us through today's round and how you felt?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think the pins were definitely a lot harder, so I had to adjust a little bit on that. Some holes you kind of had to play away from a little bit whereas yesterday I feel like I could really attack every pin. So I had to be a bit more patient today.

Q. You're getting to the point where you're showing up on the big stage so often and playing well. What was the process of getting used to having pressure on you and still playing well?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think just experience. Just playing this event last year, being in the final group, and playing the majors and stuff like that. I think when you expose yourself more to it, you get more used to it.

Q. Last year was still new to you, and you obviously came through. How much does that add to this year? Are there tangible moments where you feel like you're more in control?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think I can definitely use last year, you know. I had the lead and then lost it. Tomorrow if that happens again, then I'd know that I've come back from there before. So I guess it's positive memories.

Q. In terms of coming back here as the defending champion, is there anything that's part of the experience that surprised you, maybe the perk of being a past champion or defending champion or something that you weren't expecting?

LOTTIE WOAD: I had to stand up at the chairman dinner, which I didn't really like, but that was about it.

Q. Did you have to give a speech?

LOTTIE WOAD: No, no, thankfully.

Q. Have you been back to Augusta since last year?

LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I came and did like a media thing on the par-3 course, but that was about it.

Q. What are you looking forward to seeing on the big course tomorrow and Saturday?

LOTTIE WOAD: I think just seeing if it's just visually different after the storm. I've heard they've redone some greens. So just get used to that. But it's always fun playing there.

Q. You were a couple strokes behind obviously after day one, but now taking the lead. What was that mindset going into today? How did that work for you?

LOTTIE WOAD: I knew I was going off earlier than Megha, so I just thought if I could maybe get a few birdies to start I could kind of show that I could catch her, and managed to do that on -- I started on the back nine, not the best front nine after that, but it was okay.

Q. In most tournaments when you have a lead going into the final round or tied for the lead or close to the lead, you only have to sleep on it for one night. This tournament it's two nights. Is that different or tricky in any aspect? How are you going to approach that?

LOTTIE WOAD: I mean, it's definitely different, but I did it last year, so I've got that experience. Yeah, not going to do too much different.
