Quick Quotes
Q. Obviously you're 2-under today. You ended off on a good note yesterday. How are you feeling going into today?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: I'm feeling pretty good honestly. I had good belief that I was going to do somewhat well, so just tried to stay with the game plan I had.
Obviously two eagles out there definitely helped, so very happy and proud of how I fought out there today.
Q. I wanted to ask about that eagle on 18. You birdied that hole yesterday. Did the birdie yesterday kind of change your approach to that hole at all going into today?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: Not really. Just kind of smoked a drive off the tee and we realized I was able to go for it. Me and my caddie just agreed on it's the smart and the best play to stay aggressive there.
We did and executed very well and made the putt for eagle. So just very, very good.
Q. How do your results today kind of prepare you to play? You're well within the cut line. How do you feel being able to make Augusta National for your second year in a row?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: I mean, it's huge. I'm super, super happy, grateful, and just excited for what's coming next. I think every single one here is playing for a final round at Augusta National, but everyone doesn't get to do that.
Obviously very pleased that I'm on the right side on the cut line, and hopefully be able to climb the leaderboard on Saturday.
Q. As you know, so many great players have come through the Swedish National Team. I'm wondering if I could just pick your brain on what are one or two things, reasons you think the Swedish program is so successful.
LOUISE RYDQVIST: I think the Swedish program is so successful because they teach us how to reflect on our own journey and to understand our game really well. Everything from rules regarding ball flights to how the ball's reacting in certain ways.
Just building the stable ground of your own progress and development. I also think they do an incredible job with bringing professionals and amateur players together so that the jump from amateur to professional golf doesn't feel that far off.
I have a bunch of friends out on tour that I'm super excited to join later this summer as I'm turning pro myself. So I think they're doing a really, really good job with that.
Q. As you know, Ludvig was bribed with ice cream growing up to get him into the game. Could you touch on the ice cream culture in Sweden and if that plays a role on the Swedish National Team.
LOUISE RYDQVIST: Dad, do you want to respond to that? Yes, I grew up by the golf course, but I did figure skating competitively for 8 years before I started playing golf. I played my first golf tournament at the age of 14, so I was pretty late into the game of golf.
When I was 6 and 7, my dad always brought me to the golf course to junior time. If I showed up, I got an ice cream. Obviously the ice cream part is -- it is a big thing in Sweden, I'd say. Obviously it works, so it's good.
Q. You have your entire South Carolina team coming on Saturday. How does that feel to have just that extra support, not only that you have here today with you, but on Saturday as well?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: It means everything to me, just having my team by my side and them as supporters. I see them every day. I know that they support me every day.
It's more special to actually have them come out and watch us and support at Augusta National on Saturday.
Q. Louise, when you were on the 18th fairway, you were one stroke behind the cut. Were you aware of it at the time, and were you playing generally more aggressive today?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: Yeah, I knew that I was one behind the cut line, and then -- it definitely -- sorry, can you repeat that? Do you mean on 18 or like the 18th hole?
Q. Yes.
LOUISE RYDQVIST: Okay, yeah. I kind of knew it was going to be around even or 1-under, like even approaching today with how pretty scorable it is out there. So knowing that I bogeyed 17 and then was kind of pumped for the 18th drive a little extra.
And going for it on 18 was not a given, but with the lie I had and the number I had, it was a perfect 3-wood, so yeah.
Q. What was the number?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: It was 208 meters, so that's about 230 yards, yeah.
Q. How about your eagle on the front nine?
LOUISE RYDQVIST: Yeah, I also hit another good drive there on 3, and then I had 215 yards to the flag. I hit a good hybrid with the wind to the back of the green and then holed a 35-footer for eagle.
Yeah, very pleased with the eagles today.
