AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 2, 2025

Eila Galitsky

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Walk me through your opening round. You had three birdies on the back nine. Can you talk about how you settled in on that last nine holes.

EILA GALITSKY: Honestly, ball striking today was really, really good throughout the round. I had a couple bad shots but then recovered really well.

But today on the greens was just frustrating. I could not make a putt to save my life.

On the back nine I had a couple good birdie looks, I guess, or a little closer to the hole. That's probably why I made them, yeah.

Q. A couple weeks ago at Old Barnwell, you told me that being close by USC has been a big change as far as preparation with weather and stuff. Super humid today, a little bit windy out on the course. Did it feel different coming in knowing that you'd kind of played similar courses in this area?

EILA GALITSKY: It's definitely a lot nicer for recovery. I don't have to have any jet lag or anything.

Yeah, I feel a lot more comfortable now than I did years before just because of -- it's the same type of grass we have at the practice facilities. Playing on decent greens back at USC, which I never really had back at home in Thailand.

It's less of an adjustment to come from USC than from Thailand, I would just say, yeah.

Q. Gotcha. You've been here several times. Kind of how familiar does this course feel to you now?

EILA GALITSKY: Very familiar. I know where not to miss it and where to miss it, but I still end up going where not to miss it. It's just my bad.

It looks a little different without a lot of the trees from the hurricane. I mean, we're going around this place, Augusta, without a GPS now. So I think we're pretty familiar.

Q. You're here with two teammates. How has that been to kind of be here with them and have their support as you guys prepare for this?

EILA GALITSKY: Oh, it's great. Actually all of our teammates are going to come and watch on Saturday. So it's just been -- it's been very nice feeling like you're part of a family and always knowing that they're only like an hour and a half away. If you need anything, they can just come any time. So it's great.
