Quick Quotes
Q. Obviously DCP 2015. What stands out from that experience?
MACKENZIE LEE: I mean, it was 10 years ago, so I don't really remember much. I was only 11 at the time. But I do remember just the whole ambiance of the tournament itself because that's when the pros started coming in like right after we finished, and it was just kind of startling at first, which is probably the reason why I didn't make it after that because I just knew how big this experience was. I just put a lot of pressure on myself.
It's one of the core memories for me in golf, which is why I really wanted to make this tournament, because I get the opportunity to actually play the course instead of just watching the pros play.
Yeah, I think this will be added to that core memory of golf for me.
Q. The Drive, Chip & Putt, do any of those shots stand out to you from that?
MACKENZIE LEE: Let me see if I can remember that. I mean, that was half of my age ago.
Q. You mentioned kind of a full circle moment; what does it mean to you to be here?
MACKENZIE LEE: It's something that I've been looking forward to ever since it became a thing. I was about 15 or 16 when I first heard that there's going to be an event for amateur female golfers, and it's going to be at Augusta, and I've seen players like Maria Fassi, and I'm from Arkansas, so I kind of got a little bit more influence on that because it's like you just see people watching women's golf. It's not even professional, it's like women's amateur golf.
I think just being able to be part of it at one point before I plan to turn pro, I think it's just a big part, and I'm really excited to be here.
Q. Advice for the kids this weekend that are playing in DCP on Sunday, what would you tell them?
MACKENZIE LEE: Oh, that's so hard. There's so many things I could tell them like don't shake. I think just stick with the process, stick with the plan. I definitely did not do that. Yeah, just go through your whole routine like you've been doing, and if you can make it this far, just enjoy it. Take a lot of pictures, too.
