Q. How excited are you to compete in the ANWA for the first time?

AVERY McCRERY: Oh, super excited. My birthday is on the second round this year. I'll be turning 18. I'm super excited for that transition. Obviously it's a big birthday, so we'll have some celebrations, and then just to be here is an incredible honor, so I'm really excited for the week.

Q. You've had a chance to walk the course, play a few times. What are your thoughts on Champions Retreat so far?

AVERY McCRERY: It's very pure, the greens are rolling pretty firm. I'm hoping that some of the water cleans out. There are some muddy spots out there. Hoping that that will be away tomorrow, and I'm just excited to play this course. It's in fantastic shape.

Q. You get a chance to walk Augusta National on Friday. Have you ever been there?

AVERY McCRERY: I have. I went to the practice round for the Masters when I was like eight, so I don't remember it. I remember the peach ice cream, but I don't remember Augusta, so I'm excited to re-experience that, maybe get some more peach ice cream. Who knows. But I'm just excited to go back and see it in person where I'll remember it.

Q. In August you'll be joining the Duke golf team. How excited are you to move forward and join Andy and Catie and people you're playing with here?

AVERY McCRERY: Yeah, I miss Catie a lot. She was playing golf big invitationals, so I missed her for two years, so I'm excited to play with her again. I'm excited to go to Duke. I'm getting a little bit of senioritis, so I'm ready to go, and I'm excited to cheer on basketball. I've been watching all the games very studiously. I'm excited to be there in person next year.

Q. How cool is it to have six Blue Devils here amongst the field?

AVERY McCRERY: It's super cool, honestly. I have a good support system of people that I know, and it's good to sort of have people to hang out with, too. Sometimes you don't know who you're going to meet, who you're going to see, so it's nice to have that support system and have everyone here.
