Quick Quotes
Q. This is your fourth tournament?
PHOEBE BRINKER: Yes, it's my fourth.
Q. Coming in here with some experience on this course, how does that change things for you, if at all?
PHOEBE BRINKER: Yeah, it's really helpful. I kind of know all the spots to miss and where you don't want to miss, so it's really helpful during a practice round day because I can play more free and not have to re-learn a new golf course.
Q. Does it help maybe with the jitters? I know a lot of the first-timers mentioned that some of them are so amped up for the potential of playing Augusta that they run into some road blocks here. Does that help you with that?
PHOEBE BRINKER: I think so. I think so for sure. My situation this year is quite a bit different because I haven't been playing all that much. I'm really just coming into it super excited to be here as opposed to feeling a ton of pressure on my game.
Q. What's the biggest thing you're working on today specifically?
PHOEBE BRINKER: I was really just trying to feel free, not think too technically, work on my lag putting and my speed and my short game was the main focus of today.
Q. Was that made more difficult with how wet it was this morning?
PHOEBE BRINKER: A little bit, but it's such a beautiful day, so by the back nine we were really able to focus on that.
Q. You had your aunt on the bag today.
PHOEBE BRINKER: Yes.
Q. Has she been on the bag for you --
PHOEBE BRINKER: She's caddied for me before and she's a golf professional so she understands the physical stuff and also the mental stuff. It's really helpful for her to be on the bag and she knows my game the best, just as well as I do, so it's really useful for me to have her.
Q. How amazing of an asset is that to have? Anytime you have a question or anything like that --
PHOEBE BRINKER: It's huge. Yeah, that, and also we just have so much fun together and she really lightens the mood and loosens me up, instills the confidence in me that I need. So overall, yeah, it's a great pairing.
Q. She's a Tar Heel, you're a Blue Devil.
PHOEBE BRINKER: Yeah, that's the only downside.
Q. Has that brought an extra level of competitiveness between the two of you?
PHOEBE BRINKER: She is such a competitive person, so we already have that. But yeah, definitely a bit of a family rivalry going on.
