WOMEN'S AMATEUR ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP

March 7, 2025

Jazy Roberts

Pattaya, Thailand

Quick Quotes

Q. Great round today. Well, solid round today. Tricky conditions out there. You're on top of the leaderboard. How do you feel about your round?

JAZY ROBERTS: It was pretty solid again. Managed to hit few shots in close and roll some putts in. Had a little bit of trouble coming down the last few holes. Getting really, really windy, but managed to get through without a bogey, which was nice.

Q. After the bogey off the first, you rallied pretty quickly. Was it just a case of just hanging on for most of it out there?

JAZY ROBERTS: Yeah. Pretty frustrating three-putt on the first, but managed to hit it pretty close on the next and roll that birdie in and get it back to even. Then made a few more birdies along the way. Just missed a few as well. But pretty solid round.

Q. Looks like you might have the right side of the draw this week as well. Tends to blow late in the afternoon here. Will you watch any the golf or focus on your own game for tomorrow?

JAZY ROBERTS: No, I won't be watching at all. I think I'll probably go back to the hotel and who knows what I'll do. Maybe scroll through TikTok. I don't know. Yeah, just mind off golf and restart tomorrow.

Q. Tell us a little bit about your amateur career to date. You're a Bendigo girl, so obviously played with the Victorian state team there. Tell us a little bit about your amateur career.

JAZY ROBERTS: Yeah, been amateur for forever now. Pro might be coming soon. Hopefully I get more opportunities to play more amateur events and pro events in Australia; maybe a few international as well.

See how I go.

Q. Played a few the pro events in Australia. Talked about the Vic Open yesterday. How do you -- what sort of lessons do you take out of those pro events?

JAZY ROBERTS: I think just being able to play with both the boys and girls at home. You obviously learn a lot playing with a lot of the different people. It was only a few weeks ago up in Sydney I got to play with two of the older guys in the field. Definitely learn a lot from them. They give a lot of advice because they've been there and they've done it and know what works for them.

Q. I know a few of those older guys. Hopefully it was good advice and not lead you down the garden path at all.

JAZY ROBERTS: From what I saw they play very good golf, so I'm pretty sure it would be good advice.

Q. How do you compare conditions today as compared to yesterday afternoon when you were out there?

JAZY ROBERTS: The last few holes did get pretty windy today, similar to yesterday afternoon. But, I mean, I think it is what it is. It's what you expect when you come to a course that's next to the ocean. I think you just have to be playing smart.

Q. Were you hitting different clubs today because of wind direction or the strength of the wind?

JAZY ROBERTS: Yeah, definitely. There were a lot of crosswinds out there, so having to start the ball off the green and kind of let the wind take it. So it was pretty difficult to judge.

Q. But you enjoy that kind of golf?

JAZY ROBERTS: Yeah, it's challenging so makes it good fun. But, yeah.

Q. This is your first time playing in Vietnam?

JAZY ROBERTS: It is.

Q. What about other parts of Asia have you played in?

JAZY ROBERTS: I've played this tournament the last two years, so just Singapore and Thailand. I haven't gone the greatest there, but learned a lot from those last two years and going pretty well now.

Q. So you feel you're ready to maybe make that push and really challenge over the weekend?

JAZY ROBERTS: Hopefully. I mean, that's the plan. I mean, anything can happen on a course like this. I'm honestly not too fazed.

Q. Final question from me: you got a 56-year old Nadene playing this week as part of the team. Can you talk about how inspirational that is to have someone who has done so much and won the R&A and the U.S. Senior last year. Have you had a chance to play and talk much?

JAZY ROBERTS: I got to travel over here with her from Melbourne. Yeah, talking lots in the airport. She's a very good advice giver and I think, yeah, just talking through anything that comes to mind, it's always good advice.
