AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 6, 2025

Gia Raad

Malelane, Mpumalanga, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. A few under par round today. How happy were you with the performance?

GIA RAAD: I'm really happy. I played some really solid golf. I surprisingly didn't make a lot of putts today, just the short ones, which that was okay, but hopefully tomorrow the longer ones will drop.

Q. How confident are you going into tomorrow's final round? You're leading by three shots. Does that give you enough of a margin do you think to go out and win the championship?

GIA RAAD: It definitely helps. I think three shots is a good lead. I'm not going to do anything fancy tomorrow. I'm just going to try to play the same as I did today and play one shot at a time and see how it goes.

Q. Talk about the birdies; what was your favourite birdie today?

GIA RAAD: My favourite birdie today was probably on the 14th hole. I didn't hit a really good drive, and then I had like not a lot of green to work with, and I was in the rough. I just hit like a half pitching wedge and it just got over and it was like five feet from the hole. I was pretty happy with that one.

Q. How much are you enjoying playing Leopard Creek and competing against the other women in the field?

GIA RAAD: I love it. Playing here last year, it's unreal. The experience, the R&A, they do so much for us, and the golf course is in insane condition. It's a real privilege to be here.

Q. Looking forward to tomorrow then?

GIA RAAD: Yes, very much.
