AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 5, 2025

Johndre Ludick

Malelane, Mpumalanga, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. Johndre, how are you feeling after your performance today?

JOHNDRE LUDICK: Yeah, I played really solid today. I didn't make a lot of mistakes. Yeah, I'll take a 68.

Q. Going into tomorrow's round, how much confidence does today's performance give you?

JOHNDRE LUDICK: Yeah, it gives me a lot of confidence, actually, but I'm just going to stick to my game plan and just play like I played today and just go out there and enjoy myself.

Q. There's a few South Africans up at the top of the leaderboard. Is that what you and your teammates expected?

JOHNDRE LUDICK: Yeah, the South Africans, they're a really good side, especially here at Leopard Creek. I actually watched the African Amateur last year. Yeah, they're amazing performers.

Q. Talk about the challenge of Leopard Creek; how difficult is playing the course, particularly when it's as hot as this?

JOHNDRE LUDICK: Yeah, it's really difficult. I think I had like 10 litres of water today. But it's a really fun course. I really enjoy it.

Q. How important is the championship for golf in Africa as well as for golfers like yourself competing for these titles? How important is that for other golfers in Africa to motivate themselves to get to that level?

JOHNDRE LUDICK: Yeah, it's really important. To get this much exposure around this place, it's really cool to have this much exposure. Yeah, really enjoying it.
