Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: Clara, just to get things going, congratulations on Auckland, and welcome to Melbourne. How do you feel about your game at the moment.
CLARA TAUSON: Oh, I think I feel good. Can't really complain (smiling).
But it's a new week and a new match I have to play. We'll see how I feel, but right now I feel pretty good, I think.
THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.
Q. How does having a week like that to start a season help?
CLARA TAUSON: I don't know. I never started the season with a win on the WTA Tour, so we'll see.
I mean, it can't hurt. I'm really pleased with the start I had and matches I got to play. I have been here since Monday and practicing nice and easy, and then I'm going to be ready for Sunday hopefully.
Q. Thinking back a few years ago, the success you had here as a junior, does that help at all? Does that provide you with a sense of confidence at all when you return to this place?
CLARA TAUSON: I don't know if it helps with my confidence, but I love being here in Australia and the beginning of the year. I love being at the Australian Open. In my opinion, it's one of the best tournaments on tour, if not the best. I feel like every player is really comfortable here.
I'm just going to try to see if I can play a little bit of the same tennis I played last week and we'll see what happens.
Q. What do you like about this tournament?
CLARA TAUSON: I think they take great care of the players. Food is great and the site is amazing. Everyone is super nice here.
It's just great to come here at the start of the year with the weather and everything, coming from Denmark (smiling).
Q. How do you see the weather affecting the way you play?
CLARA TAUSON: Many times it helps, because it's a really dry heat here. The ball goes faster. I like to play fast, so I think many times it's to my advantage. But yeah, sometimes it's also a bit windy here.
But I played in Auckland, so anything's going to be fine now. I think the weather here is great for me because it's really dry.
Q. When you come into a new season, do you set particular goals of any sort for yourself, and if so, what are your goals coming into 2025?
CLARA TAUSON: I don't have very particular goals. I just have a goal every year that says that I have to be healthy and work on my fitness a lot, because I have dealt with that too much. So that's always my biggest goal going into a season, that I hopefully can play a full season.
Game-wise, I take it as it comes. I can't really say anything. I started the year 50 and end the year I don't know. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself ranking-wise.
