J. THOMPSON/D. Koepfer
7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3
THE MODERATOR: Jordan, obviously after the third set, how did you regroup and get through to the second round of your home Grand Slam?
JORDAN THOMPSON: Yeah, I mean, lost that third set. Went down an early break in the fourth. Then turned it around quickly and got up 5-1. Then there was another twist. Got back to 5-3, but served it out.
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, just happened to make a lot more returns and starting serving a lot better. Just got a roll there to get up 5-1. Sort of, yeah, just hung on there.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. How do you feel after the match, and what are your thoughts entering the second round?
JORDAN THOMPSON: Yeah, I mean, tough match. Aussie Open, being an Aussie. First round, it's tricky. Little bit more added pressure being seeded.
But started well. I mean, two sets to love up. I think it was pretty tight in the third. He got a break there. Made the right plays, just didn't execute it. Got a little bit tough being down a break in the fourth. Turned it around quickly. Just happy to get through.
Q. Do you feel a bit more pressure being a seed?
JORDAN THOMPSON: I think I feel it, if that makes sense, a little bit of added pressure playing at home, being an Aussie, being seeded this time. I feel like I need to do better than I've done.
Q. Very successful day so far for the Australian men. A bit of a collective mentality that you can drive each other to get better results?
JORDAN THOMPSON: Yeah, for sure. We're all trying to push each other. One Aussie sees another Aussie winning, they want to do the exact same thing.
Yeah, we all just want to get better and we want to give Aussies the best chance of being in the tournament later, in the later stages.
Q. Will you watch Nick tonight?
JORDAN THOMPSON: I heard him just got called in while I was on my way here. Yeah, I think a lot of eyes will be on the telly if they're not in the stadium. I'll be one of them.
