Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Isabella Fierro, rookie on the LPGA Tour this year. 2-under total for the past two days. Talk a little bit about how you felt like you played the past two days, especially to make the cut in the first major of the year?

ISABELLA FIERRO: Yeah, it's playing good out there. It's playing tough. I feel there is a couple holes you can attack. Definitely this golf course is -- you have to be a good ball striker and know your carry distances because some of the greens bounce a little hard.

You kind of have to be friends with the grain, too, because some putts you're not super sure if it's going to go left or right, but you have to trust the green.

Otherwise the wind was pretty good today. Wasn't blowing too hard, so definitely took advantage of that and I had a blast out there and I had a lot of crowd unfortunate Mexican people following me, so it was always good.

Q. We were just talking a little bit, but this is your third start actually at The Chevron Championship after competing the last two years. What do you like most about this tournament?

ISABELLA FIERRO: I love the environment. I love watching the little girls. I mean, I hope I get to inspire them to be right here one day, because I was one of them. I was one of them. I was always looking up to Lorena Ochoa and Annika Sorenstam, so definitely I want to be able to inspire younger girls.

And I love the crowd here. It's so much fun, and I know there are a lot of Mexican people here so I love being out here.

Q. Talk a little bit about your journey. You played on the Epson Tour last year. Seem to be a very fiery competitor out there. Talk about how you think that is going to help you this year in your rookie year on the LPGA.

ISABELLA FIERRO: Yeah, I wouldn't be silting here right now if it wouldn't be for Epson Tour. It definitely teach me so much about myself, about my game.

And I mean, it brought the best and the worst out of me. Definitely was a marathon. I was very blessed and lucky to have my mom on the bag the last five weeks on the Epson Tour and we got a win.

Definitely I was so comfortable and so calm out there that it kind of pay off. I mean, just being out here, I remember last year I was so, so, so nervous like the entire round.

This year of course the nerves start up the first couple holes, but I was having so much fun playing with no expectations and I knew my preparation was good coming to this tournament, so I was just controlling what I can and it pay off so I'm happy.

Q. How fun is it to represent the Epson Tour as a graduate?

ISABELLA FIERRO: It means the world. Epson Tour should deserve more recognition. Honestly, it's just the best out there. We have so many different golf courses in Epson Tour and the level of the golf is just been so, so good the last couple years.

The best players in the world mostly has come from Epson Tour. They have raised the purses, so I'm happy about that. I just hope we see more Epson Tour players here one day.

Q. Being out here, I know it's a learning experience in your rookie season. But to be able to kind of go for broke, has that really freed you up? And maybe even this week, I feel like getting to this point is a such a goal for so many rookies. Are you just kind of playing with house money and having a good time at this point?

ISABELLA FIERRO: Yeah, honestly, like I said, my goal was just trying to control every day, just having a good preparation, good routine in the morning, eat good, have good night of sleep, hydrate, eat good every day.

At the end if I end up shooting 70 or 75 it's not really up to me. I just control every single shot and whatever lands it lands. I just kind of go through the information and try to execute the best I can.

But, yeah, definitely I felt way more calmer than last year. Last year I was very nervous. This year I was. Also I didn't look up to the leaderboard as much this year just because I know it can be a little bit of a pressure, especially me as is rookie kind of having all of the standards of like the Mexican or like, oh, you're a rookie and all of these things.

For me I will say playing free was the key this week.

Q. Chasing heading into the weekend. Playing with house money. What's the game plan when you get out there on a golf course like this you can kind of attack it I would think.

ISABELLA FIERRO: Yeah, for sure. Just sticking to the same game plan. Playing conservative when I have to, listen to my caddie when I have to, too, which that's very important. Keep enjoying out here. I think I perform my best when I'm enjoying and calm so that's all I can think about now.
