The Club at Carlton Woods

Quick Quotes

Q. 98th start in the books for Angela Stanford. Got off to such a solid start there, a few birdies on the front but struggled coming in. How would you describe the day?

ANGELA STANFORD: Jekyll and Hyde. I have no idea. I didn't drive it well on the front, and the front is tough for me because I can't carry some of the bunkers and then I'm laying up to these bunkers so I don't hit it in it, and then I have a longer approach into these firm greens. The front is very awkward for me. But I need to hit it better tomorrow.

Q. Clearly have a lot of persistence in you to be going at it all these years, 98 consecutive majors starts with the goal of reaching 100 later this season. Why is that important to you?

ANGELA STANFORD: I think just because one other person has ever done it. Jack Nicklaus did it. Nobody else has done it. I'd like to be the first female to do it. It does matter to me because I call it being stubborn. That's why I'm still here. But I love it. I love playing. I love being out here. So yeah, 100 would be a great finish line.
