Quick Quotes

Q. Major spectator last week to major championship leader this week, attending your first Masters tournament last week, now off to a solid start here. What was behind the bogey-free start to this championship?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, I think we just had a really good game plan and just tried to take what the course would give me and not try to force anything. The greens are really firm, and so sometimes it was like it might be I missed the green just knowing that that's a good place to miss or giving myself a 40-footer just because that's a good spot and not making too many mistakes or hitting it in bad spots.

Q. Dating back to the Ford Championship a few weeks ago, you talked about putting a new putter in the bag. Off to another hot start here. A one-putt on half your holes so far today. Why make this equipment change?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, it's just been something I've been working on a long time, just trying to find the right fit. I've had a blade putter forever, and I was at Ping, my husband was getting fit for his set of clubs, and I just started playing around with his putter, and it was like, this feels pretty good, and then my coach and stuff were watching, and they're like, you're rolling that really, really well. So I brought it with me from Ping to the golf course, and yeah, from there on it's been doing really well. It just seems to swing really well. It's a mallet instead of a blade, so I think I'm getting just a hair more forgiveness that it's going off straighter more consistently, so yeah, it's been great ever since.

Q. It's been a busy couple weeks for you. You mentioned last week attending the Masters. You told me you also went to the Augusta National Women's Amateur. What did you take away from that first-time experience?

LAUREN COUGHLIN: Yeah, it was awesome. It was so hilly. I know everybody tells you that it's hilly, but it really doesn't do it justice until you go see it. It was cool watching the girls play it, as well, on Saturday. That was really cool. I was really jealous. But it was awesome. The golf course, again, you just have to take what it'll give you, so I've kind of found a lot of similarities in that.
