WNBA DRAFT

April 15, 2024

Marquesha Davis

New York Liberty

Q. I'm curious if you can tell us what excites you about being drafted to the Liberty, and what was something that stood out to you in the conversations you had with them?

MARQUESHA DAVIS: I would say what excites me the most is coming into this Liberty team and learning from the vets that are there, and just going in and continuing to grow.

I would say something that stood out to me is them looking basically for a two-way player and me being just that. So knowing that I can come in and be a two-way player and make an impact that way is something that I look forward to.

Q. I'm curious what it means to you to come to a team that has such high expectations, coming off a Finals, and how to take that next step. How do you approach being on a team like that?

MARQUESHA DAVIS: I would say I approach being on a team like that, just coming in each and every day, just getting in the gym and putting in that work to be able to do what those expectations are and just coming in and being ready.

Q. You're joining a Liberty team that has a lot of veteran experience and high expectations. How do you think being surrounded by so many good vets will help make the transition a little bit easier so you don't feel like you have to put too much on your shoulders to begin your career?

MARQUESHA DAVIS: I would say that makes it a little bit easier. Just coming in and having a certain role and knowing what's expected of you and knowing that you don't have to be the superhero or anything like that. So I would say that that would definitely make it a lot better or -- well, yeah, coming in, learning from those vets.

Q. When you look at the Liberty roster, you say you pride yourself on being a two-way player, but Betnijah Laney-Hamilton is someone who could really fit with the skill set. How excited are you to work with Betnijah, someone who has risen from the ranks as a second-round player and gone on to make herself an All-Star, and what part of your unique skill set can be the missing piece in a championship puzzle potentially?

MARQUESHA DAVIS: I would say I'm very excited to work with her and just learn from her and take whatever I can take from her and take it to my game. I would say just being able to score in different ways, that's a way that I can come in and help the Liberty.
