ROLEX MONTE-CARLO MASTERS

April 14, 2024

Apostolos Tsitsipas

Principality of Monaco

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. Thank you for coming.

APOSTOLOS TSITSIPAS: Thank you for inviting me.

Q. What kind of words are coming to your mind at the end of this week?

APOSTOLOS TSITSIPAS: Yes, always when you overcome all these difficulties, all these obstacles after a tough week, we know very well what it means to play at these levels, it's a huge release for everyone, for the team. It's definitely satisfaction that we manage to succeed, make the best out of it. That's the feeling.

Q. How would you rate the level Stefanos played during these days -- there was moments incredible against Zverev, seven games in a row, the first set against Sinner -- in terms of pure tennis level?

APOSTOLOS TSITSIPAS: The question is how he raised the level?

Q. How would you rate his level during this week?

APOSTOLOS TSITSIPAS: How should I rate his level?

Yes, it's one of the best tournaments he did so far from the coaching perspective. I could say that the level was, yes, one of his best on clay courts.

He played, I think there were some, as you said, there were some moments that he was in the zone, as we say in tennis, and he managed to stay there for sometimes for very long time, which is really very beautiful. Hopefully we gonna see that in the future again, and then we will see some great tennis from Stefanos.

I could say that he deserves congratulations for this week, for his win, and also congratulations for the cooperation he did with the team, with me, because that's a very, very important aspect, because I'm not only his coach, I'm a father. He was very professional. He had great cooperation.

When you are aware what you are doing in the practice, it comes out in the tennis court, in the matches.

Q. He is someone who is thinking a lot about life, himself, the tour. Did you have at some moments some doubts about the fact that he would play at this level? He's very young still, but the way he is talking about himself sometimes you think he is asking himself, am I still able to, et cetera?

APOSTOLOS TSITSIPAS: I never had a doubt he would play this level. For sure never had a doubt. But, you know, Stefanos, he's a dreamer. I could say that also he's still young in his soul, in his mind.

As every young person, you know, they need to believe in life, they need to believe in the targets they put. That's why we are there, to remind them that they deserve to be whatever they are.

Q. Don't you think the Greek god this week, we all think about the double fault yesterday, it was a sign maybe that Tsitsipas had to win this tournament?

APOSTOLOS TSITSIPAS: The god? That's a very difficult question to answer. If I could answer this question, I'm not sure I would be here right now (smiling).

But definitely our positive energy, it's very, very important in sports and generally in life. Every day we have to wake up with a positive energy.

Who knows if this kind of energy, this kind of power around us, and probably it's happy with us and can give us some benefits out of it. We can get some benefits out of it.

Q. What's next now? What is the schedule for you? How do you see the road to Roland Garros now?

APOSTOLOS TSITSIPAS: Yes, for sure is still long clay season preparation. If his body is well and we'll evaluate tonight, and then he will play Barcelona in the coming week. Then we have the Masters in Rome and then it's Roland Garros.

Shows that he's in a good way. His preparation was already saw some results. It's hopefully going to be fresh and go to Roland Garros with the best possible performance.
