MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 14, 2024

Jason Day

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Nice round. Did you find something different today?

JASON DAY: Yeah, it felt a little bit different. I was just saying that I was making some like continuation of swing changes on top of playing in a major championship and trying woods and the 40 mile an hour breeze at the start of the week, it can be very difficult to try and make those changes.

You have to kind of put it in different situations, different environments. That's how you're going to make -- that's how you're going to give yourself a lot more trust in the swing. Today was a good positive step in the right direction for that.

Q. Feeling better with your game?

JASON DAY: Yeah, like the short game's nice. Putting's nice. I wish I would have -- I just made too many cheap errors out there, not enough capitalization on the opportunities that I had, especially with the par-5s. And then just soft bogeys. Just kind of clean that up, tighten the swing up a little bit, and I should be good to go.

Q. Majors coming around. What's your schedule now going forward?

JASON DAY: I play next week at RBC. Then a week off, defend in Dallas play Wells Fargo, and then the PGA Championship.

Q. Excited about defending?

JASON DAY: Yeah, I am. It's been a while, but I think the game is kind of shaping up for a good summer. It will be interesting.

Q. Obviously a lot of family watching. Have you made a call on the Olympics yet?

JASON DAY: I'll play. If I'm in, I'll play for sure, yeah. I'm looking forward to it. I think I made a bit of a mistake not going down to Rio, even though part of it was family related. I kind of missed out on that, and I probably should have gone. But if I get the opportunity, I'm looking forward to going.

Q. Obviously you being No. 1 (no microphone). Any preference for a teammate?

JASON DAY: No, I don't. Whoever is playing the great, that would be great. I think Min Woo is playing good solid golf too. And obviously Smithy, playing in LIV you don't get World Ranking points. He needs to play well in the major championships, trying to shoot himself up the leaderboard.
