MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 12, 2024

Byeong Hun An

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Playing in these conditions, getting harder and harder. How did you deal with it?

BYEONG HUN AN: I thought yesterday was hard until I played it today, and it felt harder. I think the wind was a little stronger today. My hat wasn't staying on my head for a couple of the holes. The front nine was a little better, but the back nine got very tricky, I think. A lot of -- I got very lucky on a few of the shots, lucky bounces here and there, and then I don't know how I shot even par on the back. That's pretty impressive, I think.

Q. Kind of difficult to trust the shots, to trust what the wind is going to do. How do you work on that mentally?

BYEONG HUN AN: You try to make the best swing you can. I wasn't able to do it today. I hit some poor shots out there all because the wind got into my head a little bit before I hit it. But like I said, I got very lucky on some of the bounces and some of the lies I got off the bad shots, but I guess that's part of the game. Just have to hit a shot and accept every outcome that you get out of this wind and move on to the next hole because it's such a difficult golf course to scramble around. I felt like I did that pretty good today.

Q. Is there any joy or any -- playing with wind, is it something you enjoy?

BYEONG HUN AN: I wouldn't call it a joy.

Q. You have to accept it and play with it?

BYEONG HUN AN: It's not a joy at all. It's not fun playing in these conditions. It's definitely a battle out there. It's a grind. There's no easy holes out here. I could have made eight, nine bogeys in a row on the back nine, not because I was playing poorly but just the conditions. They're such tough holes. 10, 11, 12 obviously, 13 is not a gimme. Hit two great shots into the green to make an easy birdie, and then 14, 15, 16, 17, such tough holes you can make easy bogeys.

Somehow I scrambled well to shoot even par on the back, which I was very happy with.
