MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 9, 2024

Corey Conners

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Today playing with all the Canadians and Mike Weir, how was that, and how is it playing with Weir here every year?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it's awesome to play with Mike. There's always things to be learned out there. He's cheering for all of us, and yeah, fun to be in the presence of the other Canadians, as well is a fun group.

And obviously get to play with Nick and Adam a lot, and being able to play with Mike was special.

Q. You have a lot of experience here already; how much more is there to learn on days like this?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, there's always stuff to learn, but just trying to -- I feel like I have a good grasp of my plan and the strategy needed for most of the hole locations and holes.

Just tried to hit a few shots from trickier spots around some of the greens or even from the spots I'm trying to miss and just remind myself of what you need to do.

Q. (On the changes.)

COREY CONNERS: Not particularly. I would say I was interested with some of the greens being a little firmer, but they're all playing very, very similarly.

No. 2, still a similar look. The tee moved back a little bit.

But yeah, the course is in phenomenal shape. It's going to be a fun week.

Q. How has the strategy changed from last year? Is there anything you've picked up or any thoughts you've had about changing your strategy?

COREY CONNERS: Not really. I think we'll see what the conditions are going to be like at tournament time, but I anticipate the green speeds to be up maybe a little faster than they have been the last few years, see what the weather does to that.

But not really. Just got to be smart, patient, and hit good shots.

Q. What was the most interesting conversation you had with Mike out there? Can you remember anything?

COREY CONNERS: Not really. Just catching up. I'm pretty jealous of where he gets to go for dinner tonight, that's for sure. I'm sure he'll enjoy that. It'll be pretty awesome. Hopefully can be in there one day.

Q. It's been obviously 21 years since Mike Weir won. You've got so many great players on Tour including yourself. What's the level of expectation?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I feel like there's got to be expectation. I know all of us Canadians have belief in ourself and think we can do it; just a matter of getting it done. Don't think the wait will be too much longer. I'll be working hard and seeing if I can get myself in the mix.

Q. There's a little bit of luck involved, too; how do you look at that?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, when it's your week, it's your week. A good example last week even the two guys played unbelievably well and only one of them was the champion. You never know, but you've got to put yourself in the mix to have a chance.
