MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 9, 2024

Gary Woodland

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. It was a good year last year. Talk about coming back after a lot of things. How does it feel?

GARY WOODLAND: It's amazing to be back. Obviously it's been a journey. It's been a process for the last year. But there's nowhere I'd rather be right now. From a golf standpoint, last year was the best year I've had.

This is my 12th time here playing, and kind of figured some things out. It's the best I've putted, which has really been the thing that's held me back here.

So it was nice to get some good momentum last year, and I'm looking forward to carrying that in this year.

Q. If there is one thing that's kept happening the last few months, and especially here when you see people is how happy they are to see you. How do you feel about that?

GARY WOODLAND: Yes. The reception has been amazing. Like I said, it was hard because for so long I wasn't saying anything, and so nobody knew. That was the hard part, putting on a smile and acting like everything is okay.

It's nice to have -- it shows that people care. We're a big family out here, at the end of the day. We're all out here trying to win each week, but we're all here to support each other, as well, and I've definitely felt that.

Q. You felt that in the practice rounds and everything?

GARY WOODLAND: Everything, even the locker room, just being around the guys. It's been amazing to be back around the guys.

Q. How does your game feel for this week?

GARY WOODLAND: Yeah, the shots have been good. Last time I played, I was No. 1 strokes gained in ball-striking, so the game is trending in the right direction.

Excited, like I said, to get back here, see some of the putts that I made last year, have a lot of confidence with that, and expecting big things.

Q. It's going to be physically demanding, too, no?

GARY WOODLAND: Oh, no doubt. This is the most physically demanding golf course we probably see all year. Obviously it's the first major of the year, everything that comes with the Masters. It's a big week. For me it'll be a challenge but one I'm looking forward to.
