SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

May 27, 2021

Tim Elko

Hoover, Alabama, USA

Hoover Metropolitan Stadium

Ole Miss Rebels

Postgame Press Conference

Vanderbilt 5, Mississippi 4

Q. Tim, the second home run there, what was the pitch?

TIM ELKO: It was a curve ball up in the zone and just saw it well and put a good swing on it.

Q. Did you think the lead was going to stand up that late in the game? What were you thinking?

TIM ELKO: Yeah. I had full confidence in Jack or whoever else we were going to run out there. They just strung a couple of hits together. I mean, they're a really good team. I thought we played really well, and I had full confidence in our guys that we were going to win that game and that they can hit well too.

They strung a couple of hits together in that last inning, and they won the ball game.

Q. Tim, how are you feeling, man? You've been playing on this for a little while now, and obviously it's got to be tough for you. How do you feel after these games, and how has it been as far as your health?

TIM ELKO: I've been feeling good, feeling fine. If I wasn't, I'd say something, and I've been feeling fine. Just happy to be back out there and helping the team any way I can.

Q. Derek goes out there and pitches a really good game, one of his better outings in a long time. What did you think of him and how he was able to battle and put up that kind of an effort?

TIM ELKO: It was great to see that. Coach said in the meeting after, and I agree, that was one of the best pitching performances I've seen him make since he's been here. I was really proud of how well he did and excited to see what he's got coming for us going forward.

Q. Did you experience any pain going around the bases?

TIM ELKO: No. I mean, sometimes when I'm rounding, it's just a little unstable, but that's why I got the brace. I'm really not feeling a whole lot of pain, which is good. So just dealing with it how I can and doing what I can for the team.
