FORD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY KCC

March 30, 2024

Lilia Vu

Gilbert, Arizona, USA

Seville Golf and Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, I'm here with Lilia after her third round at the Ford Championship. 5-under today; talk about your round and some of those birdies you had.

LILIA VU: I knew it was going to be a difficult day. I just didn't know when the wind was going to pick up. I knew it would be on the back nine, so just kind of played with how the course was set up.

I know was trying to be easier, on the easier side, because you don't want to make it too difficult when the wind is going to pick up. But just trying to take advantage of those and try to make birdies where you can.

It's really difficult on the putting green, I would say. The ball is shaking and sometimes you're downwind, sometimes you're into the wind on a putt, so you just have to really gauge and guess out there.

Yeah, I'm so happy to be done.

Q. How do you stay patient when the wind picks up like that mid-round?

LILIA VU: I think the wind makes it so difficult that you just think about the shot in front of you. Sometimes I could kind of get carried away thinking about the next hole or the next shot, but I think this wind really helped me just stay in the moment.

Q. Really quickly, what kind of growth have you seen in the LPGA, whether that's fans or events, anything along those lines?

LILIA VU: Honestly, I think even a big change from last year to this year at our Arizona event, there is a lot of people out here, but I think with their kids and a bunch of kids, little girls. Girls' Golf is out here, too. I think everybody is on their spring break. It's really nice to see everyone come out. Every hole someone wants a signature, and that's just crazy.

I think now people are taking women's golf more seriously.

Q. You mentioned some of that younger generation, those who are going to be next up. What are your hopes and expectations for them as they progress through women's golf?

LILIA VU: I just really hope they enjoy the game. Sometimes we can be really hard on ourselves, and I mean, golf isn't just for competing. It's for everything. You can play with your family and friends, and it's just an all-around great sport.
