FORD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY KCC

March 29, 2024

Yuka Saso

Gilbert, Arizona, USA

Seville Golf and Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Yuka, a 63 of day two here in Phoenix. How do you walk away from this round and how do you feel after day two?

YUKA SASO: Yeah, I think it was -- winds were calm this morning and we had a really early tee time, so the greens were pure as well.

So it was I think easy to read and ball rolled really pure, and I think that made me putt better than yesterday. Yeah, I think I played really steady and gave myself a lot of chances.

Q. You had two sets of four birdies in a row. What is it about kind of those stretch of holes that were working well for you? One consecutive streak on the front nine and one consecutive streak on the back nine.

YUKA SASO: I think hitting the greens and then giving myself a lot of chances inside 20 feet, and I think that is why.

But I don't know. I think it was just the days that you play good without really noticing it.

Q. How crucial was it to take advantage of this course when the winds died down as much as they did this morning?

YUKA SASO: I think it was very important. I was in the cut line this morning, and -- I mean after yesterday -- so having four straight birdies in first nine helped my mental a little bit as well.

I think that's why in back nine I gave myself more chances without really pressuring myself.

Q. Curious about the Olympics. Where do you put that on your list of goals for the year?

YUKA SASO: Well, the Olympics, there is rankings that we follow through, Rolex Rankings, so I think before thinking too far ahead I have to focus on every tournament and give myself a chance to play.

If I qualify, then good. If not, it's okay as well. Yeah, I think my priority is focusing on the tournament I'm playing.

Q. There is talk of introducing a mixed event at the Olympics. Does that sound exciting to you?

YUKA SASO: I think it would be good if they have a mixed event. Makes the Olympics more fun. Not just like any other tournament because it's not -- we don't really have that mixed event out here.

So, yeah, like I said, I think just giving myself a chance, and if I make it, I think that'll be great. If not, I think I'll be able to accept it.
