FIR HILLS SERI PAK CHAMPIONSHIP

March 21, 2024

Brooke Henderson

Palos Verdes Estates, California, USA

Palos Verdes Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, Brooke, a solid day here to start off Palos Verdes. How are you feeling coming off day one?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it's nice to get it under par on this course. It's a tricky course, so it's nice to make a bunch of birdies. I actually was 2-over through my first four holes, so I went on a nice little run there, lots of birdies.

Feel like I have a lot of good momentum and some confidence going into tomorrow, so hopefully just move on up tomorrow.

Q. What did you do to reset after kind of those opening holes for yourself?

BROOKE HENDERSON: You know, this golf course, it can really jump up and bite you at any time, so just tried to stay patient and tried to make birdies where I could.

I feel like I'm hitting it pretty well, so hopefully over the next few days I can give myself some good looks and just make some putts.

Q. How do you think you were able to take advantage of the front nine holes, which were your back nine coming down the stretch?

BROOKE HENDERSON: I like the front nine a lot. I feel like there is a lot of good opportunities, especially if you're hitting it well and hitting it to the right parts of the green.

I feel like that's really important.

Tomorrow I'll be starting on the front nine in the afternoon, so it'll play a little bit differently. This morning was pretty soft, pretty gettable.

But I'm looking forward to tomorrow, and, yeah, hopefully just climb up a little bit more.

Q. What's it been like the last few weeks gearing up for this event, getting over maybe some jet lag from the Asia Swing as well?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it's always really tough coming back from Asia to get used to the time zones and everything again, back on a nice sleeping schedule.

But it was nice to be back in Florida, be able to have some nice rest, do a little bit of practice, and then get ready for three weeks in a row here now.

Q. You are one that likes to play out here. This is definitely one of the hilliest courses we'll see. What is it like preparing specifically for this course knowing that it kind of takes more of some stamina going around this?

BROOKE HENDERSON: For sure you want to be in good shape going around here. It's super hilly. Yeah, just making sure that you're giving yourself nice rest and proper nutrition on your way around and at night taking it easy.

It does take it out of you are a little bit, especially if you're doing all four days. So just trying to be smart and take care of ourselves.

Q. I've been asking a lot of players this that we talked to, but we have The ANNIKA hosted by Annika Sorenstam; now we have Seri Pak Championship hosted my Seri Pak. I know Lorie Kane has a huge presence at the CPKC Women's Open. Overall what does it mean to have the legends come back to the LPGA Tour and host in this capacity?

BROOKE HENDERSON: It's amazing. Seri was still playing a few events when I first came on the scene, when I was first pro. That was really cool for me to be playing alongside a legend.

To have her be a huge influence on this event and have it named after her, I think it's really cool. It makes winning this trophy extra special to anybody that does it.

So that's really pretty cool.

And Annika in the fall, again, huge legend. They've both done so much for the game that it's nice to see that they're giving back, and it's cool that we have the opportunity to play for something that has their name on it.

Q. On top of that, this morning So Yeon Ryu came out on Instagram and publically said that The Chevron Championship will be her last LPGA event. I know you connected with So Yeon in the past. Just in general, over the past few years, what has she meant to you on this tour and someone you played against?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, So Yeon has had an incredible career. She's been a great presence out on tour. She's very kind to the fans and the players.

So she'll definitely be really missed. Happy for her and excited for her next chapter.
