BLUE BAY LPGA

March 9, 2024

Savannah Grewal

Hainan Island, Republic of China

Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, I'm here with Savannah after the third round at Blue Bay LPGA. You just broke the 18 hole course record. How are you feeling? Just went through several media interviews. How are you are feeling right now?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Feels kind of surreal. Still soaking it all in. Just wanted to come out and play my best. I was joking with my brother yesterday that I shot 2-over that today is moving day. I got it.

Came out and played really good. Feels good, but still a little surreal.

Q. Were you aware where you were at?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: No. I mean, I think I saw on the seventh hole, which I think was my 16th hole, that the lead was like 10- or 11-under, so I kind of knew I could be in contention if I finished strong.

So, yeah, just tried to stay steady and hit some good shots coming in.

Q. Talk about the last three holes. Did you hit it very close? Make some long putts?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Yeah, hit it close. I want to say I hit it to five, six feet on 7.

On 8 hit a wedge to probably 12, 15 feet.

Then on No. 9, hit it to about I think five feet again.

So really just hitting it close and hitting really good iron shots in.

Q. And your brother mentioned earlier that you missed a few putts. Did it still feel like you were making everything?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Definitely felt like I gave myself a lot of opportunities and I was making a lot putts. You can't make everything, but felt like I was making almost everything I looked at.

Q. With that round you'll probably be in a pretty good group tomorrow. Anything you're going to do today to prepare? Any mental thoughts you used in college tournaments to calm yourself and get ready for the day?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Focus on my breathing tomorrow for sure. Honestly, I'm hoping just to learn a lot tomorrow. I'm sure whoever I'm playing with I'm going to be able to take away a lot just from how they compose themselves.

I'm hoping just to stay steady, present, take it really just one shot at a time.

Q. Just talk about your short game today.

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Yeah, I mean, honestly didn't miss many greens. Hit a lot of good putts and gave myself a lot of good opportunities with my iron shots, and capitalized with my putting from there.

I think I had one chip today all day, and that was on the one hole I made double. I mean, chipped that close to about one or two feet. Other than that, yeah, it was good.

Q. What is a key point today for your game?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: I would definitely say it was my iron game. I gave myself a lot of really good birdie looks, a lot of close birdie looks within ten feet, so definitely helped a lot.

Q. You broke the record for lowest score at Blue Bay. You know that?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Well, I didn't know at the time, but my brother told me after the round. Yeah, that was pretty cool.

Q. How do you feel about that?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Honestly, it kind of feels surreal. It's just an honor. This is my second LPGA event as a pro, so to be able to do that as rookie feels really special.

Makes me feel a little more confident in my game and feels like I can take some momentum from this.

Q. Many Chinese audience don't know much about you. Can you tell us more about yourself?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Yeah, so I'm from Canada. My mom was born in Korea, raised in Sweden, so I speak Swedish. Then being from Canada I also speak French. My dad's side of the family emigrated from India, so I'm Canadian, Swedish, Indian, so very multiple cultural background.

I have a little brother on the bag this week and he's a competitive table tennis player. He is going for the Olympic trials in about two weeks, so hoping he can represent Canada in Paris.

Yeah, just love to play golf and I'm living out my dream right now.

Q. Is this the first time you come to compete in China? And the Chinese player you played with today, can you tell us your opinion about Chinese golf?

SAVANNAH GREWAL: Yeah, no, it was my first time coming to China. I'm loving it so far. It's absolutely beautiful here. The weather is incredible. The resort is amazing. The course is spectacular.

I've had a really fun time. I got to play with two Chinese players since I've been here, and both have been really nice, incredible people. I've really enjoyed spending my time here and enjoyed playing with them.
