ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL

March 8, 2024

Russell Henley

Bay Hill, Florida, USA

Bay Hill Club and Lodge

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess the day?

RUSSELL HENLEY: I feel like mentally I hung in there. I was very committed to what I was doing. I haven't been feeling great with the driver in my hand, but was just kind of trying to create some shots and see some shots and see a little curve on the ball, just so I can miss the ball on the right side of the hole or correct side of the fairway if I did miss it. So, I'm very satisfied, just because of how I feel with that in my hand, but feel like I just kind of hung in there. Feel really good with my putter, and if I can just feel a little better with the driver, you know, it's always something, so, yeah.

Q. How difficult is this golf course when you're sitting there on the tee and feeling a little uncomfortable with the driver, and then too, how -- does it help to for you to see shots like that to be able to feel a little bit more comfortable?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah, it's just such a hard course, every shot's very demanding, you got to stay in position. Yeah, for me this week I've just been trying to do that, see some different shots, see some cuts, see some draws, and play with a little feel.

Q. How much change are you seeing from yesterday's round through today's round with the golf course?

RUSSELL HENLEY: Some of the pins were definitely getting baked out, which is typical here. I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow it got a little bit crazier, because it's going to be windy and all that. Yeah, it's a tough place, and I feel like it just gets harder the longer you play it.

Q. Do you feel like you play difficult golf courses well though?

RUSSELL HENLEY: I do. I feel like I, you know, I feel like usually I hit it well off the tee and can get the ball in the fairway, so I think that's an advantage. Some of these courses where there's not a lot of rough and soft conditions, almost feel more pressure, just because you have to shoot 4-, 5-under. So, yeah, sometimes I kind of like it to be a little bit more difficult.
