LIV GOLF HONG KONG

March 6, 2024

Dustin Johnson

Fanling, Hong Kong

Hong Kong Golf Club

4Aces GC

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome Dustin Johnson, captain of 4Aces GC. You're returning to Hong Kong for the first time since 2015. Can you share some of your initial thoughts on Hong Kong and Hong Kong Golf Club?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, obviously it was a while ago the last time I've been here. Excited to be back. It's a great city. I actually like this golf course.

Last time we were here it wasn't in the best of shape. Right now it's in fantastic condition. I really enjoy it more, and I think -- I didn't really like it that much the first time I was here, but now the player I am, I like it a lot more and appreciate it.

I went out and played 18 holes yesterday, so I think, like I said, the golf course is in great condition. I like the course. I think it sets up well for me. I think it's a really good test of golf.

Q. With your recent win at LIV Golf Las Vegas, you're currently second in the individual standings heading into this week. Do you make any changes to your game coming into a course like this that's maybe a bit different to what you're normally used to?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: No, I won't change anything, obviously. Just trying to get more familiar with the course. But I feel like the game is in really good form.

Last week I played way better than what my score was and where I finished. I was really happy with the way I played. I had a tough time on the greens. Some guys, a lot of guys struggled. It's just they're really difficult to read. I like these greens. They fit my eye. I feel like I'm rolling it really well.

I'm excited for the week. I feel like the game is in really good form, and even last week, the result wasn't good, but I feel like I played way better than what my result was.

Q. Bryson just shared one hole that he may use a driver, and for you on a very short course like this, do you have any idea which holes you will use your driver?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: I played them yesterday, all the holes yesterday. It kind of all depends on the wind, but I hit quite a few drivers.

I think it's a golf course where you hit all your clubs in your bag, and there's a lot of different ways to play every hole. If you want to hit a lot of drivers you can or you can lay back. It kind of just depends. Like I said, just depending on the wind really.

I hit quite a few drivers yesterday. Exactly what holes I'm not entirely sure of every hole I'll hit it on, but I'll probably hit six, maybe six or seven.

It's definitely a driver on 1 -- I don't know all the holes, but I'll probably hit six of them at least. Par-5s.

Q. I wanted to ask you about Joaco. You played with him when he shot 59. What are you seeing from him this year and this recent hot stretch that maybe you didn't see last year?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: I mean, I've played a lot of golf with Joaco, even when we were on Tour. He's a really good player. It's no surprise. He's been a really good player.

Obviously he's won two of the three tournaments. I won the one in the middle. But he's just playing good. Even when he shot the 59, it wasn't a 59 where he holed like a bunch of 25-, 30-footers. He hit it close on pretty much every hole. His ball-striking.

He drives it well. He hits -- very good iron player, good short game. He's just an all-around really good player. He's playing well right now.

Q. Are you seeing additional length from him? Did you see that at all?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: No, I mean, I think he hits it -- I don't know, from what I remember I hits it about the same as he always has. Like any good player, whenever they get -- golf is all about a game of misses, so when you can control the misses and get away with them, then we're going to play very well. That's what he's doing right now is he's got a lot of control of the golf ball.
